The late Trish Keenan is becoming one of my favourite singers ever. Here she is on vinyl, from 2000:

In my opinion, Matt Monro was one of the best vocalists the UK has ever produced; he just got left behind unfortunately as the fashion for a different style of music became more popular.  However, his recordings have stood the test of time and showcase a fine singer with wonderful phrasing second to none.

The 1974 Live version. This is my favourite DSOTM for both performance and dynamics on the recording.

Sinatra once said in an interview “If I had to choose three of the finest male vocalists in the singing business, Matt would be one of them. His pitch was right on the nose; his word enunciations letter perfect; his understanding of a song thorough.”

More from Ms Harvey : A new album is due later this month, there are a couple of taster tracks on Tidal but I can't get to grips with them.  Still hoping  it will turn out to be as good as "Let England Shake" & "Stories from the City .."
