WAV - CD rip.

Love the deep drum sound in combination with the distorted guitar.

Can't remember when I last played this. I must give it a spin more often.

Tijuana Moods with Charlie Mingus. Love this album - and in general Mingus' music!

Back in black. First spin of an early release of the Doric String Quartet's second volume of Haydn quartets - a doubler with all six op. 76 quartets. The Doric's earlier Op. 20 quartets sweep the field, IMO, so expectations for this one are high.

Keep us posted. My personal favorite for Haydn String Quartets remains ABQ.

Claude, I was writing a review of the new DSQ disc by comparison of the ABQs two op. 76 discs, but I can't the words to sound right. In short, where I find the ABQ respectable, I think the DSQ are irresistible.

EJ

Wow... I really got to hear them. ABQ's rendition of Op. 76 no 33 (Kaiserquartett) has been a favorite of mine for more than 30 years. I still listen to the Telefunken vinyl, which sounds flawless even today.

I have always felt that RT has been underrated both as a guitarist and as a singer/composer, this was another cracking album from him with that distinctive fuzzy edge to the guitar.

Eagles on Spotify  - "Solo Works" Playlist

2.5 hour playlist showcasing Timothy B. Schmit, Glenn Frey, Don Henley and Joe Walsh solo releases.  On shuffle, very nice.

During my workout. I sometimes have the feeling that the remasters are too polite, and we are missing some rawness and edges...

Then listened a bit to this. But too much of a let down due to the voice of Ian and / or the mixing of the album..

So I switched to one of the best or the best late album of Deep Purple...

Waters' intensity shines through on this album. Some lovely holographic sound effects. The barking dog has caught me several times, thinking that it is mine at the back door!

Just the forty five years old and my favourite 'Harum album perhaps because it's a little more rock orientated than their others, it just nudges A Salty Dog into second place. Thanks to the wonders of streaming I have added Conquistador to the end of the album.

Then in the main system listened to great chamber jazz...

A ha - I was referring to their EMI recordings from the '90s. Although I am a great admirer of the ABQ in general and in Beethoven specifically, I was never too fond of these Haydn discs.
