Streaming - Tidal HF - 2016
First impressions Tony ? I see it got a decent review in the Guardian . I hope to give it run over the weekend.
I do like it, Nick, and the album makes a lot more sense once you know the story behind the title. I also remember the recording sessions about a year ago. I have not enjoyed much of her latest material, including Let England Shake, but this album is more polished and highly recommended. Have a listen and let me know what you think.
Hmm well.... Given this a couple of plays on Tidal and am finding it hard to get into. Not keen on the production and I can't really latch onto many hooks that make me want to go and play tracks again.
Initially disappointing, as I really like "Let England Shake" & "Stories from the City .." they hooked me straight away and I've played them many times over the years. This seems much more inaccessible.
Probably need to persevere some more.
I know what you mean, Nick. PJ does not do comfy music and she's come a long way since Dry, my favourite album. I never got into LES and I did try. Don't torture yourself: it's only music!
Absolutely Tony - I can think of worse kinds of torture though !
Kosmische musik ? !!!!!!!

In need of some more trippy, hippy psychedilia from the early seventies, this one from 2013 will do nicely.

1970 -Original vinyl...
Nils Lofgren - The Loner, streaming from the HDX, some excellent copies of Neil Young songs. Overall a beautiful album for those quieter moods
I just had to buy this on CD (1994 'definitive edition remaster'). Ripped WAV to NS01, streaming through NDS/555DRPS:

If you can get the original Chrysalis 'fatboy' double cd it sounds better. The 1994 is not bad, just a bit thin and toppy by comparison.

(1991)
Playing the first side from this double album, it's a great mix of their best live gigs.

I will have to disagree Graeme, I think the Definitive Edition tops them all but I only have a SU and ageing lugs.

1986 - Jazz Fusion from South Africa - Original vinyl....
Concrete music ? !!!!!!!

funny, i always much prefer the 1994 remaster. just had a quick comparison and i still do.
1970s UK vinyl on United Artists. Why? Because it's got "Chain Reaction/Quantum Physics" on it.

A while since I've played this. I'm not familiar with all of Waters' solo albums but of those I know I like this the best. And I never cease to be impressed at the complexity and imagery of this album.

2013 - Unknown Mortal Orchestra - Original vinyl...

The Blue Nile - Hats
Romance, eighties style.

Enrico Pieranunzi, piano
Marc Jonson, bass
A proper pace after a difficult run (leaving a trail of rust behind). Highly recommended.

1st run very enjoyable....

Is that a cabbage?

Only recently discovered this guy, when a guy who used to play with him contacted me about a PRS guitar I had on Craigslist, and we shared a few emails.
He can play the holy s**t out of an acoustic guitar; flawless technique and very tasteful arrangements. Didn't sell the guitar, but glad I made contact with this other guitarist!
A rather excellent playlist on Tidal with all the songs featuring the Gibson SG, very varied music and some top tunes. I am super impressed with Tidal so far. Tidal via Audirvana/Hugo
