2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Laid Back, Keep Smiling.  Not a group I had ever heard of but found Sunshine Reggae on a Tidal playlist and really liked it.  Nice and chilled out for a Sunday afternoon.  Tidal via Audirvana/Hugo

(1977)

I played the ripped second CD from this double live album a couple of nights ago, tonight it's CD one from this 1994 Definitive Edition remaster.

In the 2nd part I listened to this album. I like this one even more than permanent waves. It's not as good as Pictures at an Excibition but ok that's their best one, in my eyes....

Moving Pictures?

Yes sorry - mixed things up...

I just had to buy this on CD (1994 'definitive edition remaster'). Ripped WAV to NS01, streaming through NDS/555DRPS:

If you can get the original Chrysalis 'fatboy' double cd it sounds better. The 1994 is not bad, just a bit thin and toppy by comparison.

Yes, thanks Graeme. I was aware of the recent thread on this topic, but I just needed a copy whilst my turntable is on holiday in Rearsby. Besides, I did say that at least as far as the studio recordings go, the 1994 remasters sound very good. I no longer own a CD player per se, but it sounds ok through the NDS.

Have you heard the original Chrysalis SEBtP CD? It knocks the remaster right out of the park to my ears...the others not so much I agree.

Why? Give it a whirl and avoid such silly questions.

Look at them poking like flightless birds falling from paper plates
Oh home, heavenly earthbound

Kel Assouf, Tikounen.  Desert music but with a rock guitar and rhythm section joining in, this is fascinating and enjoyably different music and very difficult to switch off once you've started to listen.  Would be great to listen to in a suitably desert surrounding - recommended.  Tidal via Audirvana/Hugo

Sundown. A change of light, temperatures and pace.

Robert Cray. Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark. On vinyl from 1988. I have three Cray albums; this, its predecessor, and its successor. Each is accomplished, has very good SQ and are musically very similar. "Strong Persuader" is my favorite of the three.

Elvis Costello. This Year's Model. On original vinyl from 1978. In 1987, Rolling Stone magazine ranked this album number 11 on its list of the best albums from the period 1967–1987. While I enjoy the album, I find that exceedingly high praise.

No, but I have the original vinyl. I bought the CD because my turntable is currently at Cymbiosis for some beauty treatment.

The 2nd one during my workout. Not as good as the other one but still quite good.

A bit of a hype around him, and I understand why. It's special...

I haven't heard that Chrysalis version Graeme I will go and get a copy. I have found that the various '94 Definitive Edition remasters were (so far) a good enough upgrade for me.
