What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Not a well known outfit but this is was their 12th album
Rush, Vapor Trails, the Rush come back album after Neil's tragic personal losses and therefore an important one but so badly produced first time around that it was almost unlistenable which was a shame because there are some good tracks on here and Neil's pain can be clearly heard. This remix version puts some of that right and is far more enjoyable to listen to. 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Last one for tonight.

They could have easily used one of my images for their cover.. Well, nothing I can do about it.

Jethro Tull. Aqualung. On original vinyl from 1971. I remember giving this classic plenty of second hand listens through the walls of my brother's bedroom.

Elvis Presley. 3 Classic Albums. On white vinyl from 2014. A set of three early Elvis albums; Elvis Presley (1956), Elvis (1956) and King Creole (1958). No doubt the first two of these albums had a strong influence on McCartney and Lennon.

John Fogerty. Centerfield. On vinyl from 1985. With some heavy percussion and a tad of electronica it's definitely a more modern sound than his CCR days, but still true to Fogerty's swampy blues roots. Great album.

He makes a very fine job of this tribute to his boyhood hero.

Bert, that is a cover of the Bobby Gentry song from The Delta Sweete. Bill said it was one of the most musically interesting pop songs he'd ever heard, and he loved covering it. The Tokyo version is a good 'un.
Got some extra shelving so all the vinyl is being moved around/sorted into order. Just laid my hands on this great 4-LP box set which I haven't listened to in a while:

Now doing a quick bit of work to this CD from a talented Scottish harpist:

Who would have thought the former leader of the New York Dolls was such a great blues singer. Well he is and then some. And the Harry Smiths - what a great band.
An all round brilliant record... CD absolute bargain @ £3. 27p New on Amazon.

Me too

Apparently Ry Cooder had second thoughts about this album, describing it as a mistake. I have to disagree I think this is a brilliant album. The great thing here is the choice of songs, no obvious jazz standards he plunders the hidden corners of Jazz, excellent CD.
Sample track on Tidal from their upcoming new album (prompted by Ewemons post above). Have been a big Jayhawks fan in the past but lost interest after "Mockingbird Time". Not blown away by this one -
we'll see what the album brings ...

One of the many bands I have been delighted to discover on Bandcamp, they blend Americana, Appalachia, beats and world music seamlessly into something quite special.
