2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Stan Getz's final recording, a two-CD live set of duets with pianist Kenny Barron that was cut just three months before his death, finds the great tenor in surprisingly creative form despite an occasional shortness of breath. Getz's tone is as beautiful as ever and he does not spare himself on this often exquisite set. His version of Charlie Haden's "First Song" is a highlight but none of the 14 performances are less than great. A brilliant farewell recording by a masterful jazzman (ALL MUSIC).
This brilliant sounding album again...

On vinyl...
Followed by another album sounding so much better than I remember!

Great vinyl reissue from Acoustic Sounds (APRJ 7202).

Pink Floyd. Meddle (1971). On remastered CD from 1992. One of these days I hope to come across a vinyl copy of this.

Ryan Adams "Ashes And Fire"

The Jimi Hendrix Experience: BBC Sessions. On CD from 1998. Twenty-one scintillating tracks including covers of Cream, The Beatles, and Dylan (not AATWT). High energy stuff with respectable SQ. Highly recommended.
From Bandcamp. Nice and bright to match the this Sunny Sunday! It's beautiful out there.

Paul Simon. On-Trick Pony. On original vinyl from 1980. Simon's usual folksy funk with a smooth jazz infusion. Gets the toe a tappin'.

This after seeing this "sad" post from KW...

Original Vinyl on Elektra Red / Silver Label.

Just in from catching the sun in the garden. This seemed appropriately light and cheery.

Because I'm still luxuriating in the fresh memory of seeing her perform live last week when she sang a number of songs from this album.

After finishing the London marathon, watching that is, time for some lazy afternoon music.![]()

Federico Mompou (1893-1987): Musica Callada (Silent Music)

Bill Frisell "When You Wish Upon a Star". Easy listening jazz style, touch of celtic, hint of blues. The arrangements by guitarist Bill Frisell are played with his regular 3 piece & numbers of others singing & playing familiar screen theme tunes.

CD rip. Swings along nicely - exemplary production as usual.
