What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Bert Schurink posted:Quite different from what I have heard from him so far, 1st run - so no conclusions so far....
I love Charles Lloyd, and have many of his albums. I also enjoyed this collaboration with Bill Frisell a lot, and recently watched them perform live from Lincoln Center.
Charles Lloyd paints a wonderful musical picture of California's Pacific coast in this impeccable ECM recording.

Van Morrison. Moondance (1970). On vinyl WB "Burbank with palm trees" label circa 1973. A classic album, one I appreciate more today than I did in my youth. I believe the photo should be rotated 90ยบ.

Gerry Rafferty. City To City. On the original UA vinyl from 1978. I'm experimenting with some room treatments tonight and this is a great test LP. Sounding sweeter than ever!

John Cougar Mellencamp. Uh-Huh. On vinyl from 1983. Listened to this one last night on a 2005 CD. Is the 22-years-older vinyl better? Uh-huh!
Hyphen police correct me if I'm wrong.
This morning during workout 1st run....

The Beatles. Something New (1964). On Capitol Records orange label vinyl circa 1978. Granted, Capitol had second generation tapes to work with, but this is a particularly vibrant, energetic, and well-mastered pressing. A familiar reference to help evaluate my room treatments.

Doors. LA Woman (1971). On HDCD from 1998. Another familiar album to assess room treatments. My conclusion; ceiling absorption panels are a big positive in eliminating high frequency clutter, while (surprisingly) helping to control bass and tighten percussion.
On CD. Good stuff to write to...

The mighty Scott, over five CDs...

For Forumites of a particular age, this will be hugely evocative of summer holidays and/or going to the Saturday morning pictures. Superb music on CD:

Wow I never thought I would see that being played here or indeed anywhere again! BBC 1964-5 originally and sadly I do remember it!
