What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
On CD:-

Not brilliantly-pressed vinyl. But they only made 500 so I guess I'll have to put up with it.

This Columbia half-speed mastered LP is one of my favourite versions of WYWH - sounding stunning after five minutes in the Audiodesk:

Angus & Julia Stone "Down The Way"
Picked this up earlier today at the local record store. First listen. Fabulous, of course.

Original release, 2000. Hybrid SACD 2015 release.

My fave version of WYWH, too.
This is an excellent compilation of the wonderful Tracey Thorn's solo work, and other stuff too. There's even her version of Goodbye by the Monochrome Set.

A very long time ago but what an impact this album had when it appeared? I can remember being spell-bound by the middle-section of You Shook Me. It must have taken massive self confidence to be that self-indulgent in the late sixties.

Because it is a wonderful, if rather challenging listen.

Nice album to chill out to. A solid 7 from me. I'll give it a spin when you're nearby next

David Gray "Greatest Hits"

1970 - Original vinyl...

After reading a review of the blu-ray, I went on a nostalgia trip to dig this out, and then watched the movie again as well! Classic Saturday night movie

Sarah McLachlan "Fumbling Toward Ecstasy"

Continuing with the Mellencamp listening. Interesting one here - mono recording apparently via a "single microphone and a refurbished mid-‘50s Ampex tape recorder"

Similar approach to this one I guess (although two track tape used here).

Been playing this a lot over the past few days. Quite "conventional" jazz standards on the surface but beautifully played. Well worth a listen. Tidal.

Bonnie Raitt "Dig In Deep"
