What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Why? Because after having a 2 year living here for 6 months I finally have access to the system again.
Plus, I saw the film last week and it has stayed with me

Ah, Slade, will they be rediscovered in years to come like Mozart.
Wonderful song, look at last night ...
"you'll be right here today, come tomorrow,
maybe they'll care today, but not tomorrow"
Even though the lady beside my mother in her nursing home had a reindeer who played "Merry XMAS everybody" I forgive Noddy.
Thanks for the memory

I enjoy playing this as much for Robin Trower as for his bass guitarist and vocalist James Dewar. What a good, gritty, blues rock voice he had, full of soul. Their version of Sailing on this album is excellent.
Been relegated to the kitchen as the ladies are watching some dreadful period drama in the living room - so I thought I'd give this mono analogue recording another blast, through the Muso this time - very enjoyable

Just a little late listening.
Tidal.

It's a damn fine album.

Springsteen - The Ghost of Tom Joad
In Youngstown, there's pride in hell-ish manual work, and the questioning of what it's all for, and for whom? There's something about that phrase 'taconite, coke and limestone' that simultaneously makes the hairs stand up and makes me want to weep.
Anyone else? Randy, forgive me, you're a given.

This one is also a real cracker. Tidal

1968 - original vinyl...

Tidal. First real listen to this one for me - excellent.
Very nice,....

The most interesting e.s.t. album in my eyes/ears, and even one of the best albums in jazz overall...

Alanis Morissette, Jagged Little Pill, excellent album prompted by the hidden track thread. Saw her live off the back of this album which was a shame because she was so boring we left early! Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Bob Dylan - "The Best Of The Original Mono Recordings"

Zero 7 - "The Garden"
Riverside, Second life syndrome.
Great Polish prog rock, well worth a listen.

Del Amitri, A Hat Full of Rain, one of my favourite live groups and brilliant song writers and this greatest hits album is one of our faves too. And rather appropriately, given Leiscester's success, it contains the song Don't Come Home Too Soon, with the lyric 'even long shots make it sometimes'. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

U2 - "Achtung Baby"
Simply the best. Along with the Mellencamp stuff.

vinyl. one of my (way too many) RSD purchases this year. quite enjoyable, if not up to the lofty standards of soul jazz's "tropicalia" compilation -- an upper-echelon party disc if ever there was one. if only i could find my copy...

Paul Weller on vinyl.
