They have a history or reworking unreleased material and this track could have been initially meant to appear on "OK Computer". Again, the band, inexplicable appeal, still fascinates whatever they put out there. Should be, as always, interesting to hear the new album.

Airbag....The Greatest Show on Earth

Posted on: 06 May 2016 by dayjay

Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells, an album I loved when I was young and prompted by the BBC4 programme on at the moment.  Still surprising how powerful and evocative those opening couple of bars are.  Beautiful music that has been used in many a film.  Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Jean Michel Jarre, Oxygene, a natural bed fellow for Tubular Bells since I am in a nostalgic mood, and oh my word how good does this sound on modern Naim gear!  24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Stefano Battaglia, piano
Giovanni Maier, double bass
Michele Rabbia, percussion
Dominique Pifarély, violin

A challenging 2003 recording. Even Mr. ECM himself, Adrian, struggled with this disc.

Excellent, I have to seek this one out, check out his duo with Leslie West doing Mississippi Queen, some of the finest guitar playing you will hear.

Nice one, Gian. Jimmy had an amazing voice and the album sound as fresh today as when it was first recorded all those years ago. Is that a 1970 promo?

Hi Tony! Great record indeed! It's the Music On Vinyl 180 reissue. Couldn't  find a decent 1970 copy.....

Bruce Springsteen. Darkness On The Edge Of Town. On an early vinyl pressing from 1978. Continuing my Springsteen sojourn and for me this is The Boss' best and most impassioned album. Powerful for me in that it takes me back with strong emotions to the times and places I heard this as a teen in high school. Memories of fond friends with all the world in front of us.

In the mood for some ethereal electronic music this morning and this fits the bill nicely.

Switching to something more rounded, while I liked the album of the bad plus...

Because it's been a while, one of those albums that was very different when it came out in the days when many new bands had their own distinctive and different styles right from the release of their debut albums. For me, their best album A Song For Me was to be released two years later.
