2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Sade - "Soldier Of Love"

Nakamatsu's very impressive Schumann recital.

Vinyl.
Garcia and Grisman interpret four jazz standards...

Jamaican Queens, "Downers", vinyl.
New soundz from Detroit. Tough to pin down exactly what these guys are up to -- sort of "what if Brian Eno dabbled in hip-hop?" Their debut, "Wormfood", is even better: tense and menacing, then bright and hooky. Well worth a listen if you're seeking something different. They're great live, too.

Some excellent Berlin school electronica downloaded the other day from Bandcamp.

The last two are next up on my listening today. Both were left with me by an old friend Vic who has an amazing collection of electronic albums.

I'll give Schoener a try anon too, c/o Deezer Elite.

Menahem Pressler in his late prime is inspired here, and better recorded than he ever was. This is not just a tribute or personal diary, but a very good recording in its own right - spatious, warm performances with every note given its due weight.
cheers,
EJ

A nice quiet start of the Sunday..

An absolute corker - only discovered this last week prompted by Joe Rand's Mellencamp-fest. Been on heavy rotation since ![]()
