What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Tchaikovsky: Tatiana Prushinskaya (piano)
Second Movement (Andante non troppo quasi moderato) from the Grand Sonata in G major, Op. 37
I admit that I have more music than I could listen to in a lifetime but I do it mainly to satisfy my own treasure hunting needs. Why I can't listen to everything is simply due to the fact that what I like in a particular day / month / year or more is enough. I can listen to a particular piece or section or movement of music hundreds of times. I don't stop until I am satisfied that this music is in my soul and into my core being. From the listening stage follows the "must find the score" phase and then the practicing / playing stage which lasts a lifetime. I will place an order for the score tomorrow and then I am set for the next phase when it comes in.
There are many options to pick from (I have many recordings) but when I am away from home (which is a lot lately) and I have a computer I listen to Tatiana Pruchinskaya. Maybe 30 or 40 times a days, continually, start to finish and then repeat. Her piano sounds outstanding and I like her playing style. She makes something very difficult sound and look so easy. Quite remarkable.
This Andante from this sonata is just perfect music for me. It seems I share the soul with Russians of this period of time. They knew how to represent pain and suffering through musical bliss.
Hope to catch up with some old friends at her gig in Edinburgh in June depending upon what else I have on at the time.
No English dates as yet but she may add some after 10th June when she plays Dublin.

The new Radiohead album.
What's your first impression..... ?
Really like it.
I've just started playing it after transferring the 24-BIT download to my NAS drive. I've also ordered the special edition.
Andrew Bird - Are You Serious
Diesel Park West - Shakespeare, Alabama (original vinyl)
Superb debut album by a sadly under-rated and under-appreciated band from, of all places, Leicester. (Much better that Kasabian!)

And earlier after long bike ride in the sunshine, chilled out to "Are you going with me" from this one. CD rip.

After being seduced by her Sand & Water album I determined to buy some more of Beth Nielsen Chapman's work. Here's my latest addition.

A Wax Time 2013 reissue. They made a great job. Wonderful record!
