What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Woefully overlooked album.
Agreed. Love it. Mouth full of cavities is one of my favorite tracks.
Been a bit of a BM fest tonight. Dug out their debut album too (just been listening to "No Rain" and now "Sleepyhouse".
Nico next? Love them all.

2016 on Spitify - Stone Roses's( apologies to the apostrophe police if that is incorrect) new single from the upcoming album. 21 years on, more of the same. Should be enough to please hard core fans.
It's awful Tony. The worst thing they have ever done. The lyrics are so dire they could be from Bernard Sumner's dustbin and the music sounds like the least talented members of Cast and Ocean colour Scene jamming with northside and a Kasabian tribute band.
My old mate John, a Scouse Roses fanatic who went to Spike Island and all that, is having trauma counselling right now.
Are you serious or joking? As hardcore fan I it's enough for me to have more of the same. Can't be that bad or can it.
Sorry, Osprey, but I do agree with Kev. I am a great fan of their first album and to a less extent to The Second Coming. The song is repetitive to extremes and Ian's lyrics are a far cry from his best efforts.
Let's hope there are better songs when the new album is released. I am not raising my expectations though so I won't be even more disappointed.
Too bad. I was hoping that this would have been a same kind of nice surprise as Blur's new album last year – but it seems not to be the case…
Great start of this long weekend...

Bruce Springsteen. Nebraska. On original vinyl from 1982. Finalizing my journey through my Springsteen holdings. I've worked through all his studio albums save for "Human Touch" - a gap I need to fill.
I started my Springsteen excursion after working through my Mellencamp catalog and discussed similarities between the two artists then. To those thoughts I'd add that Mellencamp, while not without his dark matter, possesses an immediately involving, toe-tapping, any occassion musical sound. Bruce has more of a commanding, pull up a chair in a dark corner, and "get involved with me" sound.
Moving on from those two great American singer-songwriters. I'm going to delve into my Jackson Browne holdings.

Jackson Browne. Running On Empty. On original vinyl from 1977. Embarking on my JB journey with his best-seller, but in my book not his best album.

I can really recommend this one, as so far every time from Lugano. I normally have with these long ones that I don't fully listen till the end on the first listen and switch to something else. This one keeps me tight to my listening chair, and I am already far into this one. A pity that these type of artist get older and don't stay let's say 60 for ever....

One of my favorites. How you can hear into the touch of the strings and hear the air, great sound a musical quality. While it's raw and not so nice polished like for instance Nathan Milsteins version.
Yes, it's a wonderful version. Isabelle Faust is one of my favourite violinists, along with Hilary Hahn and Rachel Podger. The second volume is excellent too.

I still have to get into Rachel Podger. So far I have kept myself away from her. The focus of her on this specific musical period doesn't fully attract me. But I know at some point in time I will have a close look at her music. Currently too much music which is new - so first get to through and then she is somewhere on this try out list in the top 10.
Try this...

At least you didn't choose Adele!
SJB
Waited a bit longer with this, as I was not sure if this was the type of record I would like. And as it's ECM you can't listen to it in full through Tidal...
I am happy that I did buy it, what I heard so far is pleasing, while it's not an everyday album...

Very special to hear Goerne being supported by a string quartet rather than a piano...

Earlier - More classic Blue Note - even the missus commented "this is nice music" - I suspect there was an unsaid "for a change"
. Tidal

Whilst basking in some welcome warmth in the sun room via an old non-Naim system. CD rip.
