Jackson Browne. Standing In The Breach. On CD from 2014. I have all of Browne's early LPs through "Lives In The Balance" from 1986. Fell out of graces with him after LITB, but have been reingratiated with him via later releases like this one. A solid album.

Starting this lovely sunny day with some more beautiful layered ambient post-rock guitar music from this very enjoyable band Blackhill.

Jackson Browne. I'm Alive. On CD from 1993. An album I've recently acquired and find the sound more akin to Browne's roots from the 1970's. Solid stuff, sans poppy fluff.

Wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson talking about the influence of parabolic reflectors in his work, on BH on R4. It's suggested that the shape of the Queen's umbrella made it easy for a TV cameraman to pick up her comments at a recent garden party because the shape of her brolly focussed her words. Fascinated me anyway.

I'm following your Jackson Browne notes with interest Randy, I bought all of his albums up to and including Hold Out  (1980) and then drifted away from his music, I can't remember why. So any album(s) you flag up as being good after then  I'll give a try to over on Deezer Elite.

Continuing with Mellencamp exploration.  Good one this - quite dark and broody but lots of good stuff. Tidal

Following this with interest also.  I have rediscovered JB's music in the last five years thanks to Spotify.  He is a very, very strong songwriter and well above average vocalist, pianist and guitar player.  I have become particularly attached to Standing In The Breach.  I have started a playlist of many of his songs in the 6 - 8 minute range individually which seem to allow for him and his players to stretch a bit and show their chops.  Your comments are always well-thought, joerand, and your Springsteen series was a highlight of this thread.  regards, Jeff A

I did exactly the same Steve. Can't say I ever really enjoyed anything of his after Hold Out.

Donald Fagen - The Nightfly

Another record I don't normally play at this time of day. Especially on a glorious spring afternoon. But, "There'll be Spandex jackets, one for everyone".

One of the better albums of last year. Very exiting idea and well executed....

Having neglected this album for years I gave a play a week or so ago and enjoyed it so much I thought I'd give it another spin. They were quite a band.
