(2012) CD    Karen Peris - Violet

Very recent purchase.  First listen last night.  Karen is from the trio Innocence Mission.  First listen felt it ended a bit abruptly, as if it could have another song or two.

Hi Pat, I would not have known her by name but enjoy her voice in the IM releases so will check this out.  Ten songs in 20 minutes is an EP length, no wonder it sounded abrupt when over.  Thanks.  Hope you are doing well.  regards, Jeff A

I don't normally comment on pre-releases Jeff but since it is you.  She uses a fair amount of electronic beats and samples on this one.

Must admit I didn't like it first time around but it seems to be growing on me. Would I personally buy it, no, but it is certainly worth a listen and different from what she has done in the past.

Yes, Graham. Visually unsettling and I don't  know where he gets the energy. Surely not from the same stuff back in the days. Or, is it?  Fruitcake!

I made the wrong assumption it was released over there.  UK often gets stuff before we do.  Sorry to put you in that position, thanks for the info.  Jeff A

Jeff you have no need to apologise as I wouldn't have done it if I had been told I wasn't allowed to.

Ranging from reflective to rocking, this is an excellent new release.

re: Beth Orton.  Okay, E, I understand, thanks again for the info.  The song on the video is not unlike some of the tracks I have on her Collections 2-disc release.  But she quickly moved away from what Tucker Martine did with her on Sugaring Season.  I don't mind the change, I like both.  Jeff A

Bandcamp download - following Stevee's earlier recommendation.  Atmospheric layered guitar music - very listenable whilst relaxing after running.
