2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
On CD. Bill is great to write to:

Mono vinyl. For me, their least satisfactory record (but the Fabs' stellar standards at least), but still outstanding.

A nice 1970s Portuguese copy on vinyl:

Has good moments, destined for Friday afternoon drive time radio 2.
On vinyl. This, the third album from Sylvian, has always sounded good, but after a zap in the Audiodesk it sounds amazing!

1969 - UK Original album...
Perfect pop. So damn faultless it could be by the Fabs themselves:

On CD:-

A long-time favourite of mine. I find it's one of those albums that draws me in as it progresses and I keep nudging up the volume in response.
Heard 'I was a cloud' on Guy Garveys Finest Hour (with Lou Rhodes sitting in) the other week so i bought the album 'Rook'.
As i was working from home today to get some thinking time i got a chance to get to listen to a lot of my latest purchases including this one.
It's really rather lovely.

Another fine MK album this time put together over a number years with Emmylou Harris in various studios where they could sneak free recording time. Quite why they need to do that I don't know, neither should be short of a few bob...

LP - Reprise 2016 : )
Tom Petty - bass guitar, vocals
Benmont Trench - organ, piano, mellotron, vocals
Tom Leadon - guitars, vocals
Mike Campbell - guitars
Randall Marsh - drums
Recorded at The Clubhouse, Los Aneles and Shorline Recorders, Malibu. 2015

It's the time of the year for this once again …

I was at Fairfield Halls for the tracks recorded there in 1970 a great night if I remember correctly one of my favourite bands at that time.

Juat tagged and loaded the John Willliams collection, nice...

This is my current favourite album - it is simply stunning. It is impossible to describe it with any single genre but it is mainly underpinned with a glorious mixture of blues and gospel. But then it gets folksy and even a bit rocky - all delivered with a lovely soulful lilt. You would swear Foy Vance is from the Deep South of the good ol' US of A. All the more bizarre and intriguing when you learn he is from Northern Ireland. You can occasionally even hear a Northern Irish accent as he belts out a wonderful bluesy gospel number. There are a number of tracks on here I don't mind admitting are very emotional and get me going every time I listen.
Reading this back makes this album sound a rather eclectic mix of styles. It is not, it hangs together beautifully. If that sounds of any interest I strongly urge you to have a listen - it is on Tidal. Go on treat yourself!

Thanks for the write up Nigel you have persuaded me to give it a go so I'm sticking it into a play queue of music to try.
