What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

This is my current favourite album - it is simply stunning. It is impossible to describe it with any single genre but it is mainly underpinned with a glorious mixture of blues and gospel. But then it gets folksy and even a bit rocky - all delivered with a lovely soulful lilt. You would swear Foy Vance is from the Deep South of the good ol' US of A. All the more bizarre and intriguing when you learn he is from Northern Ireland. You can occasionally even hear a Northern Irish accent as he belts out a wonderful bluesy gospel number. There are a number of tracks on here I don't mind admitting are very emotional and get me going every time I listen.
Reading this back makes this album sound a rather eclectic mix of styles. It is not, it hangs together beautifully. If that sounds of any interest I strongly urge you to have a listen - it is on Tidal. Go on treat yourself!
Thanks for the write up Nigel you have persuaded me to give it a go so I'm sticking it into a play queue of music to try.
Just did the same. I'll give it a go soon.

“Interplanetary Blues is a remarkable release, expressive, engaging and wonderfully atmospheric; it is my kind of experimental ambient electronic music. Yes … at times there are beats but they add to the overall whole of the album." Thomas Marnie (Owner of the we are all ghosts record label - waag)

I never cease to be impressed at the breadth of your music collection, ewemon.

Haven't played this in a long time.

I've tried this a few times HH but found it rather too "difficult" for my cloth ears - Prompted by your post, I've put it back on the list for another go.
A friend of mine loath this album. These tunes are like abstract painting but on a vinyl, I found colours and textures on the tunes take on a richer and more interesting tone. I realised a lot going on where I have not noticed before on a digital playback.
The vinyl part of the Tales of Us deluxe box. The 'Frapp rule!

UK first press vinyl. It's a Frapp-tastic kinda day.

Beth Orton - "Comfort Of Strangers"
More Frappage. Seventh Tree on vinyl:

Tori Amos - "Unrepentant Geraldines"
Nice bit of Thursday afternoon listening on some old vinyl...

Pleasing dronescapes as ever from Cousin Silas, relaxing interesting and involving. He's eschewed the longform he usually adopts and broken this up into six (micro dronescapes) of twelve minute pieces, delightful ambient music.
I thought I'd take a punt on this, and it's very good indeed. It was my first download from Bandcamp, and it was a bit tricky to decide how much to pay.
I payed the equivalent of $4. Fair enough considering most tracks sound rather similar.
Chucking on random stuff while trying out a 272

An MCA pressing from the early 1980s. I like the Dan because underneath the sheen, there beats a dark and inscrutable heart...

Taste - Live at the Isle of Wight
Earlier:
Richard Thompson - Amnesia
Now:
Trembling Bells - Wide Majestic Aire
Lucy Ward - I Dreamt I Was A Bird
On CD:-

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Echo

Late afternoon chillin'
A big bundle of fun - Swingin' Dors

On vinyl. Synth-pop majesty, with Will and Alison on top form. Banging tunes as well.
