2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Death Cab For Cutie - "Narrow Stairs"
nigelb posted:
This is my current favourite album - it is simply stunning. It is impossible to describe it with any single genre but it is mainly underpinned with a glorious mixture of blues and gospel. But then it gets folksy and even a bit rocky - all delivered with a lovely soulful lilt. You would swear Foy Vance is from the Deep South of the good ol' US of A. All the more bizarre and intriguing when you learn he is from Northern Ireland. You can occasionally even hear a Northern Irish accent as he belts out a wonderful bluesy gospel number. There are a number of tracks on here I don't mind admitting are very emotional and get me going every time I listen.
Reading this back makes this album sound a rather eclectic mix of styles. It is not, it hangs together beautifully. If that sounds of any interest I strongly urge you to have a listen - it is on Tidal. Go on treat yourself!
Just previewed each track on iTunes store. Fantastic!!! ![]()
CD over £20 on Amazon ![]()
Will have to search on!
Thanks Nigel for another great artist to add to the list ![]()

Wakey wakey..................played LOUD!
Green Day, American Idiot, also played loud and full of classic songs. If you can listen to this without your head nodding and your feet tapping you're probably dead. 24/192 Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
Elvis - That's The Way It Is - a much better vinyl edition than my original, which was the 3rd album I ever bought, after Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

The Best Of The Boomtown Rats. On CD from 2005. There's 19 tracks on this album and while I appreciate the band's sound, the top ten or so would more than suffice for me.

The Traveling Wilburys. Volume One. On vinyl from 1988. The one band truly deserving of the "supergroup" title in my mind.

I Sing In Silence by Goat
Released today this two track seven minute EP. The usual and recognisable fare served up by Goat, its fine but I don't understand their recent need to release these 2 track seven minute albums, they released another of similar length in September. Why not just wait and make a full length album?
Nouvelle Vague - Nightclub covers of New Wave anthems.
A smooth start to a Friday with half decent coffee, before a shift. Sounding bloody awesome on my newly serviced CDS3 with new mech.

It's my DAC error,I think it's getting confused with the signal frequency from Tidal.

Looks strange as Tidal is only cd quality..
Just listened to a recording from the Jazzlounge E.S.T. live in Burghausen...

Questionable quality from a Japanese cd rip, but nonetheless.
Franz Liszt: Dinara Klinton (piano)
Transcendental Études S.139
The imagination and musical depth of Franz Liszt never fails to amaze and inspire me. An impressive recording here by Dinara Klinton who is stunning.
