2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Agreed, his Chopins are exquisite. The above Beethoven sonatas are also very well played, especially if you are looking for a straight forward performance without the extra bravado that usually comes with this composer. The sound of the piano on this 22 years old recording couldn't be better. The good news is that there are now some used copies available on Amazon for a reasonable price. Half a year ago they were demanding over $200 for a copy.

On vinyl. My favourite of the latterday (post-1997) Dylans:

First listening to The Alan Hull songbook. Some nice material, well played and nicely pressed. Think only 200 copies were pressed - the guys deserve for them all to sell - guess what my friends will be getting for Xmas if they don't? Hopefully volume 2 will follow soon!
This one of my favourite Keith Jarrett trio albums. He always seems much more engaging on the live recordings.

On CD:-

Dylan - The Best of The Cutting Edge - amazing how songs I know so well, can sound so new and fresh, with different and generally more basis arrangements. Was a bit undecided to buy, but then again I always knew I would, result is I am glad I did!!

Radio 1 big weekend live on hd. Mumford &Sons at the moment. Not usually my thing but this actually sounds quite good.

Todays listening.

Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms MOFI 45rpm vinyl. Not my favourite Dire Striats album, but can enjoy it occasionally

Hank Jones (piano), George Mraz (bass), Elvin Jones (drums)
Old stuff from 1993 that just keeps getting better with time.

The Traveling Wilburys. Volume One. On vinyl from 1988. The one band truly deserving of the "supergroup" title in my mind.
Indeed, one of the rare real supergroups – the term is often used too lightly.

Interesting cover art. Someone saw a sculpture that inspired empathy. I saw a potential ported speaker cabinet for the by-gone 6x9 Jensen car speakers of my youth.
