2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Another great recommendation from here. This one is really good too.

Sounds wonderful!

Unfortunately i have neighbours, so moving speakers into the garden on a beautiful day would be antisocial - although I know from past experience for a party that tpoutdoors gives the most beautiful sound, or it did on my old IMFs, and my present PMCs have very similar character.

Listening to the wonderful album by Joni Mitchell (anything goes, Joni can not do anything wrong for me).

I cannot help to ponder that somewhere since the 70s the art of recording and mastering has gone lost on us all.

I have always found this thread one of the most interesting of the whole forum and it has widened my musical horizon enormously.  The postings which are most informative are those where the listener adds narrative as to why they are posting .. thank you all.

Jonny Lang's first album released in January 1997 .. the album depicts the wonderful talent of this young blues/rock guitarist though his subsequent albums have been quite disappointing in my opinion.  But this one will have you jumping around the living room it's that good.  There are no skip worthy tracks ..

Volume I is great, really looking forward to Volumes II, III and IV. Can't get too much VM at his best!

Vinyl. A worthwhile twist on a classic -- thanks, Record Store Day!

Speaking of worthwhile twists on the classics, I just put a Zu Audio DL-103 on the Aro/LP12 -- and damn, it's really excellent.

Oh my, what a find. Never heard Jonny Lang before. What a superb blues guitarist and a damn good singer to boot. Pretty good production just adds to the enjoyment of this fine album.

Thanks for the recommendation John.

Vinyl, as usual. I think I like this album more every time I play it -- and I play it a lot.

Having belted out some old and new rock earlier in the day I fancied a change of style for this evening. Eddie Reader's jazzy album suits the bill nicely.

John Mayer - Battle Studies - really like some of this album. Streaming  rather than vinyl. Hard day in the garden and building a Homebase barbecue has taken its toll on my back and hands. with the touch of arthritis I think I have trying to lift the arm tonight would be a bit risky for the cartridge!

Jenny Lewis  -  "The Voyager"

The Gaslight Anthem - The 59 Sound -streaming from the HDX - some excellent material on this album and enjoy Brian Fallons voice, also one of the best live bands I have seen over the last few years, generally supporting others.
