2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Tidal (again - what did I do before it came along ??).   Great jazzy / electronica chill out album.

The superb Otis Taylor. Trance blues at it's finest. Don't be put off by the repeat of certain trax the arrangements are different.

So far so good with this one. Very nice.

Played this album on Tidal this morning. Right from the start an absolute pleasure to listen to. Wife came out of bedroom and said, "what is that, it very nice.". Quite unusual for her to say this as very discriminating. Great recommendation Spurrier.

been listening to this lately and got drawn by how good and clear vocals can be in a 'choir' setting:

enjoy

That box-set is astonishing from start to finish. One of my most treasured recent purchases.

Was great to begin with and gets better with every listen. Mind-blowingly good.

+1 Like this a lot - played it all the way through on Tidal  (which is high praise for someone with my short attention span...).   Nice blend of "blues" guitar, violin, trumpet etc -  doesn't sound like it should work on paper -  but it certainly does.  Good recommendation Ewemon.

If you like this then start working your way backwards in his catalogue. You probably won't like them all but well worth a listen. The only on that isn't available is his very first album Blue Eyed Monster which is extremely rare. I have been looking for a second copy now for well over 16 years and haven't found one. Thank god I got one when it first came out.

John Fogerty. Blue Ridge Rangers (1973). On CD from 1991. First listen for me to Fogerty's first solo album. There's no Blue Ridge Rangers - it's Fogerty singing and playing everything on this all cover songs album. Didn't strike a chord for me.

Paul McCartney. Amoeba's Secret. On CD from 2007. A sanctioned live recording from the Amoeba Music record shop in Hollywood with a great bootleg vibe. Tracks are: 'Only Mama Knows', 'C Moon', 'That Was Me' and 'I Saw Her Standing There'. Energetic performance and a recommended obscure tidbit for the McCartney aficionado.

Did at the end of yesterday evening have a short listen into this one. Too short to have an impression on the quality...

Green Day. Nimrod. On HDCD from 1997. A power-packed 18-track album that finds the band in their punky, alternative, three-chord prime. Impressive tight and fast sonics on HDCD replay.

Social Club. A bit of a change for me - Hip Hop - on the basis of liking the track on this download, Carpe Diem.

I listened to a little of his stuff and heard some banjo instead of guitar. A little different.

Lynyrd Skynyyrd, Pronounced Leh-nerd, skin-nerd.  On original vinyl; very interesting flicking back and forth to the 24 bit HDTracks version playing through my Hugo and hearing the difference in presentation.  Sounds fab on both to be fair
