2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
UK first press - another new purchase:

2002 double vinyl

CD boot of outtakes from '75 - 76. Would love the Floyd to issue this officially, in pristine quality.

Think I will join u Kevin with a rip from the original vinyl. Haven't played this in donkeys years.
Side 1 is Rome Goes Pop and the second side is from John Peels Night Ride
Wife gave me grief over the Floyd and got told to play this James Taylor album instead. Never bite the hand that feeds you as they say.

Yes pretty good. Maybe a little 'smooth' at times, but played a bit with the likes of Little Walter, Buddy Guy, Fenton Robinson, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, and Lonnie "Guitar Junior" Brooks when he lived in Chicago.
Worth a listen if you can find him on Spotify or tidal.
Staying with the Blues theme this afternoon

1998 - CD - WAV - one of the best albums and band of the 90's and ridiculously underrated. They are simply awesome live. CDs can be had for as little as 1p from the river.

The superb Otis Taylor. Trance blues at it's finest. Don't be put off by the repeat of certain trax the arrangements are different.
I passed over this a few times on here. Ummm....I thought, Trance blues, I'm not going to like that, but then I thought Ewe, he's got good taste in music, I'll give it a go even though I'm not going to like it.
This is flippin' brilliant! Reminds me a bit of Jimmi Hendix more bluesy stuff. Such great 'construction' with each and every track. As others have said, you can't help but listen to the whole album straight through.
What a great recommendation, cheers.
This is indeed a great album, never heard of Otis Taylor before, but I just had to play through the whole album when I found it on Tidal. Just downloaded my own copy, thanks for the recommendation.
More Floyd boot nostalgia. I got this back in '78. It's a TAKRL releae, supposedly "recorded at the Fillmore West sometime in 1970" - actually it's the famous KQED Studios broadcast from 29th April '70. Pretty good SQ for a boot of this vintage, and a very quiet, thick, flat pressing:

Released in 2011, this is a superb blues album. The core of the band is made up of 3 siblings from Kansas City .. wonderful guitar work here and Danielle Schnebelen has a haunting, raspy, perfectly suited blues voice. Just listen to her sing "Goodbye" .. Lots of drive.
More The Amazing Kornyphone Label vinyl, again from the late 1970s. This says it was recorded at Wembley during the '74 Winter tour, but I'm pretty sure it was sourced at Trentham Gardens, Stoke. Fairly ropey SQ by current standards, but stuff like this is fun to listen to sometimes:

STYX - Paradise Theatre
Still an enjoyable album.

Because he always takes me to some very pleasant laid back place.
On vinyl. Fancied something a bit starker after all that prog:

Beck - Guero
No reason except that it sounds right with a beer after work.
C.
Suspense type of music, nice...

After a few days away on a no expenses spared holiday (camping in the Cotswolds) it's great to be home, and this is suitably mellow.
