I've been enjoying the various work of Darkroom for a while now, this one is more experimental ambient progressive in style.
"The evolving live Darkroom sound presented here combines spacious instrumental and found sound ambiences with searing guitar textures and post-industrial noise, all created and captured on location in 2015, with final post-production in 2016.
The missing link between The Banshees and Zeit-era Tangerine Dream."

Meat Puppets. Backwater. A brilliant five song CD from 1994. Takes me back twenty-some years when alternative and grunge music listening on Seattle radio was my mainstay.

Great album!

The Rembrandts. Debut album on CD from 1990. Gathering dust on my shelf for some time. Individually the songs are nice enough with a few standouts, but collectively become 'more of the same' over the life of the album. The musical equivalent of sitting through a chick-flick with a date. Or watching "Friends" re-runs.

If you Southern rock well give this a listen. Definitely a band to watch

The Best Of Steppenwolf. On CD from 1999. A worthy and concise compilation of ten songs from a fantastic shooting-star of a band. Their lesser known and heavy blues "The Pusher" the gem of the album for me.

Been listening through the various recordings I have of Schubert's F minor Fantasie, D940. Suffering and in pain from syphilis and typhoid fever, most of Schubert's last are exploring the dark side of the soul in a way that nobody before him and after him achieved, but also invariably contrast the dark with the light. The Fantasie for four hands has all this, but is also one of Schubert's few works which fails to get a grounding: every time I'm ready for a resolution of the musical argument, the music changes tack - and the best performances keep me on my toes, time and again.
So, going through the few recordings I have, I have been freshly disappointed by a few and positively surprised by others. This recording with Lewis and Osborne sharing the stool is outstanding. Lucid, rhythmically alert, serious but crucially not too serious when called for, this duo roundly outplays David Frey / Jaques Rouvier on their recent recording (which is significantly handicapped by the person playing the bass part in a weak, reactive fashion).
I did just receive another, recent, recording of this work, with Ismaël Margain and Guillaume Bellom on Aparté. Based on sampling this promises to be another great performance. At the very least, with Aparté I am expecting a superior piano sound (although not mentioned in the documentation, the duo plays a Steinway grand).
Cheers,
EJ

Keeping it local.

The album plus a bunch of the trax that never made the final song pick.

Immersive psyambient and chilled downtempo electronica from this French artist, good for letting the imagination flow.

Talented guy with agitated angst, guitar and home studio. One of my favourite genres.
