What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Another cassette-only release (at the time anyway, it came out on CD later), "Pal Judy" by Judy Nylon:

Hybrid - Wider Angle
On with some more Hybrid, this is CD2 of 2, the live section of the album with about three remixed studio tracks at the end. Played to a live dance audience its hard hitting.
Cassette, given away free in 1991 with "Select" magazine, compiling various tracks and offcuts from the late lamented Factory Records:
A handful of beauty, indeed... This is an album that truly deserves the full sound of a clean vinyl pressing.
Hi-res.

Liking these photos of your cassettes and the teaser of your Dragon. When I was overseas virtually my entire collection was on tape as I wanted it easily portable, unfortunately it was so portable that it all got nicked, which is when I started building my third collection!
Also hi-res. From Tull's best period IMO.

Steve, the cover reminds of Aerials( boy in the video) from Toxicity - System of a Down. Complete different styles of music though!
Tony, that's a really good shout, I had not put that idea together. Thanks for reminding me I must give some Toxicity a whirl again (putting said album into playlist as I speak). Hopefully I can get this to work and include the video clip you refer to.

Thanks Stevee, I think I have around 1,000 cassettes, a lot of them comedy, many boots I recorded, but many of them from the old cassette culture of the 1980s, where a lot of music - electronica and leftfield stuff especially - was released on cassette rather than vinyl (or later, CD). A lot of it was never releaesd in any other form, so I'm glad I held on to them.
Often the SQ isn't up to much but I do like cassettes as a physical medium, they're great fun and with a Nak can sound absolutely stunning.
Watched the Amy documentary the other night - giving this a spin as a result. CD rip.
Another one of Factory's legendary cassette packages, this time a Sex Pistols "audio documentary" called "The Heyday" (FACT 30), which was intended as Factory's 1980 "Christmas card". It was gold spray-painted and came in a wallet with a Christmas card.
Tony Wilson himself gave this to me in the Summer of 1984:

I agree with all that Kevin, I enjoyed the medium particularly as it was on a needs must basis living, working and commuting to various deserts at the time. Much left field and electronica both of which I craved along with any good prog'. That (2nd) collection I had pinched amounted to over 1200 CDs, I still have about 100 comedy cassettes remaining (bought later) but had to cast away another hundred or so music cassette only last year as they had all gone past their use by dates having stupidly stored them in a shed and forgotten about them.
On CD:-
Saw them live, quite a decent album..
Good album, from a great ensemble...

Wish I had been there that night - such great chemistry, such brilliant playing!

+1
In the early 80's I was working at a Montreal Hifi store and Nakamichi cassette decks were selling very well given their rather high price. I was only 22 years old or so, and I bought a humble 480z (couldn't afford a Dragon!) but you're right - SQ was amazing.

long time no play, great album!
enjoy

Does the tape stay intact over such a long time ?

Berlin School early 80s style electronic rock inspired by Tangerine Dream.
The Knack. Get The Knack. On original vinyl from 1979. A fantastic debut from a promising band that was never able to re-capture the magic on subsequent releases.
