2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Led Zeppelin. Presence (1976). On CD from The Complete Studio Recordings box set (1993). Possibly the dark horse in LZ's catalog, but there's a great bluesy vibe to the album.
I used to be a massive fan and this alternated (with a couple of others) to be my favourite of the studio albums. But TSRTS remains my overall favourite - I can remember the spine tingling experience the first time I heard Bonzo say "OK, let's roll..." at the start of Rock 'n' Roll, track one, side one.

One of Mary's heavier albums (well, relatively).
M
Classic Records 200g vinyl. A strange album that doesn't sit easily with the rest of the catalogue, but "Carouselambra" is great and JPJ's bass playing on that track is awesome.

2-LP compilation of sunshine soul. Well, the sun is shing...

On CD:-

"Leonhardt's Pavanes are stately yet soulful, his Galliards are exciting yet playful, his character pieces are amusing yet graceful, and his closing Fantasia is controlled yet colorful."
The Grateful Dead. A concert from 6/11/76 in Biston.
A lot of notes....

Time to fire up the Nak for some cassette listening. One of my favourite albums of the era.

Pink Floyd - Piper At The Gates of Dawn - the new vinyl release, a Father's Day present. Package nice, but took some getting into the shrink wrapping - wish they would not use. Cover quite realistic to my original. Sounds surprisingly good - may push me to buy some of the other new Floyd releases, which I had held off doing due to the disappointment of the last CD offerings!

He of Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs

Haven't played this in ages. Can't remember him putting out a bad album.

Glad you like it.

An Oz import.
More cassette listening. Suicide live in the early 1980s

Leonard Cohen - Live In London - vinyl - hard to not listen to this album when it's on. Just seems to keep dragging you back to listening - very engaging!
1974 Japanese vinyl (stereo version, with "See Emily Play" tacked onto the end of side two). Although less detailed than the 2016 vinyl, this is more dynamic and has a bit more "welly" so gets my vote.

CD rip : WAV
Continuing to enjoy the Father's Day "gift" - don't know why I haven't bought this before now - it's an absolute belter. Great versions of songs mainly from "Essence" and "World without tears", recording quality for a live album is superb.![]()
Streaming | Tidal | Transcoded to DSD 64

(2013)
Volume one of two, live recordings from concerts in Frankfurt and Amsterdam. The recordings and performances are full of life, good interaction with the crowd. Great listening R.I.P. Alvin.
