2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

They have a new album out in Sept Tony. I have heard a couple of trax off of it.
Thanks, Ewe. Just had a look at their website. Album coming out on 16/09/16. Also a concert in October at the Union Chapel. Might go and see them as it is just down the road from me. Cheers for that.![]()
This is an excellent new release that I bought after reading a review in Friday's Guardian. The songs are mainly short dance tunes, played rather majestically.

Volume one of two, live recordings from concerts in Frankfurt and Amsterdam. The recordings and performances are full of life, good interaction with the crowd. Great listening R.I.P. Alvin.
I couldn't resist carrying on to the second volume with venues in Paris, Rotterdam and Frankfurt, the SQ on this official bootleg is very good across most of the tracks.

Just for a moment I thought you were showing off your new pumps Nigel !

A nice bit of laidback blues to help round off the evening.

A change from Nerina's earlier work. A hint of a rock-flavour. Magnificent. This lady has huge talent.
Lloyd Cole - Lloyd Cole
Not knowingly mentioned the format before in this spot (I mean it's music, the format's neither here nor there) but this vinyl record is glorious this evening.

The Eagles, Hotel California, original vinyl and still one of my favourite ever albums

Excellent album, David. That said, the best version of the song Hotel California I've heard is the live version on Hell Freezes Over. It's stunning. Suspect you already have it but just in case.
Mike
As it happens Mike I haven't got that album. I will check it out and thanks for the tip

David, I can second Mike's view on that. The album is just over £1 at the moment on the River. I got a very nice CD pressing from Japan last year although that was a lot more. Steve

playing right now as i type... hopefully not another late night -- tomorrow is work!!!

Recorded in 1995 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, released on ECM two years later. Slow developing music but it never looses its hold.

Kevin-W posted:Classic Records 200g vinyl. A strange album that doesn't sit easily with the rest of the catalogue, but "Carouselambra" is great and JPJ's bass playing on that track is awesome.
Released during the heyday of my high school LP listening and one often enjoyed with my buddies at the time. I always thought it was the most immediately engaging and likable LZ album. Just plain fun to listen to over and over.

The Cars. Eponymous debut (1978). On HDCD from 2001. Great blend of pop/rock with new wave. Guitar driven with traditional rock percussion, and just the right infusion of synthesizer for my taste. I absolutely wore this out on vinyl when it was released. Great listen on HPs.

A trot through some of her Capitol label releases 1967 - 71, a nice way to start the week.

Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris. All The Roadrunning. On CD from 2006. An album very easy to become smitten with. I don't have any other Emmylou music but find myself in lust with her vocal styling on this one.

A simultaneously gentle, romantic and rousing start to the day, with espresso.
