This is a beautiful album, Hanks tenor sax playing is beyond good however, Art Blakeys drum solo on "This I Dig of You" is out of this world no wonder Ginger Baker sights him as one of the greatest Jazz drummers of all time and a major influence on his playing.

Music Matters 33rpm Blue Note reissue..

Nice!  I love Tidal for stuff like this.

Hi Larry,

CD or vinyl? How do you like the music? I'm thinking I should spring for the vinyl - it registers essentially twice the DR of the CD.

Streaming | Tidal Transcoded to DSD

(2015)

This turned out to be his final album its well recorded and delightful, including covers of songs by Paul Simon, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Professor Longhair and others.

Stone Temple Pilots. Tiny Music...Songs From The Vatican Gift Shop. On CD from 1996. I dusted off this 'oldie' after Scott Weiland's death in December and was reminded what a very good album it is.

Elton John. Honky Chateau (1972). On MFSL gold disc CD from 1990. Definitely a warm and welcome "analog" sound to this CD. OTOH the vinyl has a better attack and bite to the SQ.

Funnily enough I pulled this out to play yesterday but never got around to it.

Neil Young. Blue Note Café. On 2CD from 2015. Great performance and SQ, but I prefer the condensed 1988 LP "This Note's For You" which had an amazing sub-bass sonic to it.

This is a new discovery, the Enrico Pieranunzi Trio with Simona Severini singing. Very nice indeed.

Streaming | FLAC | Transcoded to DSD

Because this set is one of my favourite "modern" live performances by TD. A 1997 Polish FM broadcast remastered by 3N. Volume 20 in the Tangerine Tree project.

I have seen that you are transcoding everything to DSD, while most of us are using WAV. Do you have experiences that the sound quality would be better ? Or did you execute A-B comparisons ?

Bought this years ago, and was prompted by Ewe's post to give it a whirl, (well, Naim rip actually).

Brilliant harmony singing.

Yet more excellent music from the Daptone label.

Bert, I've been using and testing it for about ten days now. It's a process option in Audirvana Plus something I use in my second system or in my Macbook system. So far I have preferred the overall sound quality to my previous FLAC transcoded to WAV. I will eventually get round to posting my thoughts in the thread here, I have been making regular  A-B comparisons and in my small nearfield or headphone system I am preferring it to FLAC/WAV.
