What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

CD.
The Hollies - The Air That I Breathe - on vinyl. Hard not to sing along, and very hard to sit still during this one!!

We have assumed control .......... Rush, 2112, early concept album about the over throw of a totalitarian state that attempted to control all aspects of their citizens' lives. The album that saved Rush's career and a life long favourite. Original vinyl

2011 - Tidal... Found by chance while searching for something else. Chilled Prog (no vocals). Relaxing almost jazzy sometimes.

Stevie Nicks, Bella Donna, original vinyl released in 1981 and containing the excellent Edge of Seventeen as well as a rather nice duet with Tom Petty, Stop Dragging My heart Around
Whitesnake, Slide It In, another 80s album, from 84 this time and full of great blues rock songs. Had the pleasure of seeing these live many times and, until last year when his voice seemed shot, they were always excellent. Will always have a soft spot for their early MTV videos. Original, slightly crackly, vinyl

Nice start with the bass....
Switched to a nice recently released album...

Bryan Adams, Reckless, because I have just cleaned it and it's a classic album. Another artist who is consistently good live, and a pretty decent photographer too. Original vinyl (because cleaning a digital file would be weird!)

Richard Strauss wrote some 200 songs, which apart from the four last, are almost never performed. They are hard to get into, with limited mainstream appeal - but Kaufmann, in 2006 not yet the superstar he is today and available to Harmonia Mundi, is stupendous. This is singing that has to be heard to be believed, and one of the best song collections on my shelves.
Cheers,
EJ
Marillion, Misplaced Childhood, just when I think my vinyl playback is where it's at I play this through my Hugo and realise how bloody good it is. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
Last one of the weekend, Rush, Hold Your Fire, an album I often overlook even though I saw them on this tour and they were superb. Has Time Stand Still on it which I love and Tai Shan which even Rush don't like. 24 bit Flac via Audirvana.

Mono Japanese pressing.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. She's The One. On CD from 1996. I've plugged the final gap in my Petty studio discography with this one, just bought today. Very enjoyable, so good I'm giving it a second spin.
