What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Mellow start to Monday with a bit of Beck

Now enjoying Getxo 96 Jazz from The Simple Acoustic Trio, also called the Marcin Wasilewski Trio....
Having a listen into this. Very often a great combination doesn't always mean great results. In this case I am very pleased with the results. So I will definitely download this album....

On CD

(1984)
Because it has a near twelve minute version of Heard It Through The Grapevine.

What I've often referred to as the "Man's" version of Grapevine. Awesome performance.

Apart from their debut this is the best album they've ever produced. The rest is just passable. One of Roger Dean's most iconic covers imho.
1972 - Original vinyl...
In all I have a total of 25 songs from UH that figure in the ''A'' list repertoire on my hard drive. Surprisingly I have about 27 from The Beatles (as a group) and 43 for the Stones. By ''A'' list I mean curated tracks that get spun when I play my collection in random mode.
Not bad for a group that have more or less faded into obscurity.
Marry Waterson and David A. Jaycock - Two Wolves
From Bandcamp...

Modern jazz, haunting in a way...

I completely agree.
Cosmos Factory was one of the first albums I ever bought as a schoolboy, and I still remember arguing with a friend that the CCR version of Grapevine was just as good as Marvin Gaye's.
I'm not sure I would completely agree nowadays, but a fantastic song and two great versions.

A splendid follow-up to 'Build Me Up From Bones'.
36 ½ minutes' worth of eleven delightful songs. Nice to see an artist having some control over quality versus quantity. A lovely job of recording/mastering on the Sugar Hill label too.
John.

I sincerely hope you are not comparing the Beatles and Stones to UH.
Let me see if I got this right: you got 25 songs out of 25 studio albums by UH and 27 songs out of 12 studio albums by the Beatles.
Not very good at maths, are we?
Vinyl - First Pressing:-

(2010)
Another good album from TPT, a band that doesn't seem to get the appreciation they deserve...

1998 - CD - WAV... It was good to see them at Glasto. They are just fantastic live.
Just downloaded it today, enjoyable.......

The Eagles
The Complete Greatest Hits

Followed by this.
Don Henley
The End of the Innocence

Ending the night with this.
Cass County Deluxe Edition

In the mood following A great concert in Glasgow on Saturday, Don was in fantastic form, great music and a fantastic atmosphere.
Edward
Rush, Fly By Night, because I need something to cheer me up after that shocker of a game. Original vinyl

Not so much a question of math as it is a reflection of what still does it for me four decades later.
Wow, first time I've played this LP with the new RP6 and HICAP2...the Exact Cartridge broken in...holy cow!
When he first started singing at the beginning after the introduction I jumped in my seat it was like someone was in the room. LOL!
