What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Since discovering Ashkenazy/Solti recently, I think I have found my dream set of performances of the Beethoven piano concertos, and listening to Freire/Chailly several months after last spin, the similarities are striking: powerful orchestra, big romantic view. On balance, I think I even prefer Freire over Chailly in the 5th.
The Op.111 sonata, by comparison, comes off as rather less special. Kovacevich reigns supreme here.
Cheers

Early prog rock and this self-titled debut was to be their only album release, I'm not sure why that was because it was very good. This one ripped from the 2011 Esoteric remaster and sounding good.

Between chores, away from the sweet spot:

George Mraz and Emil Viklický - two of the leading Czech jazz musicians united again. George Mraz is one of the most profiled bass players in the world and Emil Viklický is the "patriarch of Czech jazz piano"(the London Evening Standard). They perform a new Czech way of jazz, fresh ideas on traditional foundations and no least of all two of the most remarkable voices of jazz can be discovered on "Together Again".

Been giving this new release a good thrash yesterday evening and today on Tidal.

Big fan of their previous two albums

The new one continues the development of their sophisticated modern jazz sound. Top flight musicians.
