2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.

Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

David Crosby & Graham Nash - Wind On the Water. Reissue on lovely thick vinyl, so, for once, brand new.

Why? First chance to listen properly since I received it.

The title says it all really, a great collection of blues and soul over three discs, made even sweeter by the fact that it cost only £3.00 in a charity shop years ago.

I seem to be stuck on compilations this evening, but this soundtrack contains some well recorded, brilliant tunes.............and that's coming from me, who can stand neither country nor bluegrass music, or so I had thought, until hearing this.

Such a memorable opening line, which still gives me a thrill of anticipation. And the closing masterpiece of The Knife. A truly wonderful album.

On CD, inspired by Graham's post above. What a voice! (Scott's, not Graham's )

Yes, Steve, that's exactly the version I've got too

Phew, finally broken free from an afternoon of compilations.

Isn't "La Grange" one of the best blues / rock tunes ever?

I seem to be in the mood for old-time classics today. Bouree has long been a favourite of mine (I might be mistake but I seem to remember it was on the B side of one of Tull's singles) and Look Into The Sun is another.

Pink Floyd

Music from the Film More

PF More

Now listing to

Obscured by Clouds

PF OBC

Decided to give these albums a listen to as they have appeared a lot in this thread especially "Music from the Film More".

Now a confession, i have not listened to these albums since the eighties, i bought them again when the 2011 remasters appeared  but have never listen to them as they were not my favourite  Pink Floyd albums so was not expecting them to be this good, i am positive it is the remastering by Steve Gutheral that has transformed these albums as i have never enjoyed them as much as i have tonight.

I agree Dave, I still have weeks on end where I keep hearing La Grange going around and around inside my head and the only way to purge it is to play it a lot!!

Know what you mean, though I have a problem when trying to play along with this one, it always comes out sounding like Joe Bonamassa's "Burning Hell", from the Blues Deluxe album....................not great!

Big Bid Train, Folklore via Tidal.

Just getting into this band, just ordered this and 2 other CDs from the River, looking forward to giving them a spin. The singer does have a very Peter Gabriel sound, which is no bad thing. BBT have their own sound that is Prog and Folk.

More Eno-related ambience. Day of Radiance by Laraaji, on vinyl.

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres

Seemed to gain a bit of traction earlier. Sumptuous vinyl sound.

In the mood for more early Genesis (obviously) and I've always had a soft spot for this post Gabriel album.
