What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

I mentioned this one earlier, seems churlish not to give it a spin, (well, a stream, but who's counting?).
Mr B at his bluesiest...................recommended, but then I am a fan.
Graham Parker and The Rumour - Mystery Glue
I loved him then, I love him now. Still got it. Different, but still got it.

Big Big Train, The Underfall Yard via Tidal.
Yep, really getting into this Band.
The Chainsmokers, Roses, having a listening session with my twelve year old son who is introducing me to this artist. Actually really good, chilled dance music. Tidal via Audirvana/Hugo
Not sure how I came to this one - but it's certainly quite enjoyable at this hour.

Fleetwood Mac. A first pressing of their second eponymous album from 1975.

Eagles. Hotel California. On original vinyl from 1976. Seems like appropriate music for a Friday evening.

The Best OF ZZ Top. On vinyl from 1977. More classic rock.

Bruce Katz, on piano and the Hammond B-3 organ blurs the line between jazz and blues while maintaining all along a New Orleans groove. An Audioquest release from 1992.
Their last show ever...

Gerry Rafferty. City To City. On original vinyl from 1978. Just noticed that I seem to be developing a chronological trend in my listening this evening.

The Cars. Candy-O. On original vinyl from 1979. Feeling obligated to continue the trend.

The music on the album is haunting, and beautiful at the same time.

(2016)
A rather lovely posthumously released album, just right to cheer a damp Sunday morning.
Via Tidal - which I'm still loving

Slim68 posted:Big Bid Train, Folklore via Tidal.
Just getting into this band, just ordered this and 2 other CDs from the River, looking forward to giving them a spin. The singer does have a very Peter Gabriel sound, which is no bad thing. BBT have their own sound that is Prog and Folk.
Simon you can download all their albums cheaper, in higher resolution (if you choose) and save on postage by using Bandcamp, I think that the artists get more of the money that way too so it helps support them, their page is here.
English Electric Full Power ( a double album) is my favourite to date.
Steve
Super 2- CD compilation on Charly, inspired by Stevee's post above, and a great way to start the weekend:

This is a new album from the ever wonderful Chiaroscuro Quartet. It's at a special price of $10.18 for just a week from eClassical, so if you want it, grab it now.

1978 - Vinyl - UK/Mono
Oh! Didn't He Ramble sung by Peggy Lee...really good. Short and sweet, apparently a funeral song.
"Didn't he ramble.... he rambled
Rambled all around.... in and out of town
Didn't he ramble....didn't he ramble
He rambled till the butcher cut him down"
