The Throbbers' masterpiece, and one of the best albums of the 70s. Gotta love the Gristle!
Fleetwood Mac, The Best of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, because I had a powerful urge to listen to the green Manalishi which seems reason enough to me! Flac via Audirvana/Hugo
Just don't talk about
Fleetwood Mac post Peter Green.

Indeed it is a great way to start the weekend particularly when you eventually realise that its actually Saturday and not Sunday as I posted earlier!
Haven't played this for years - quite intense but sounding very good

How's about some Saturday morning funk, in dismal North Yorks?
Seemed only right to give this a run as well. Shame they fizzled out after this.

UK first press vinyl (FACT 55) from January 1982. Their best album methinks: Tribeca, Stax, James Brown and Muscle Shoals as seen through the prism of a grotty Manchester tower block.

PF Endless River. Stunning on vinyl
Well, two folks seemed to approve of the last one, above, so who can resist this? Even better album, IMHO.
UK first press from November 1981 (FACT 50). When this first came out, it got a very tepid response from critics and the public (although I remember liking it very much at the time).
Has any band ever sounded as lost, as disconsolate, as uncertain, as so damned opaque as New Order on their debut LP? I can't really think of any other artist who has.
But for me this is what gives the record its power. Time has been very kind to it and I think it can now be seen as something of a masterpiece. Along with P,C&L it is their most sonically adventurous album (parts of it are almost avant-garde). And Peter Saville's cover is brilliant too.

In a similar vein to Feat, maybe not as funky, but echoes of Lowell George here, with a Louisiana swamp flavour.
Not sure if this is appropriate on this thread, but as several have expressed some interest in Jerry Joseph and over the years others have mentioned Richmond Fontaine, here is a chance to see both as RF is closing out their careers as a band. As a side note, JJ has announced that Jeff Crosby will be leaving the Jackmormons to further pursue his solo career.

I will be in dismal North Yorks in about a week. Hope it isn't as dismal then.

Hope so, we've got an outdoor gig in Scarborough on Tuesday, and umbrellas aren't allowed! ![]()

I got it as well yesterday, haven't yet had an opportunity to listen to it as I am North Sea jazz festival.

Last one of the afternoon, excellent album of Mr R's take on some of Muddy's best known songs...............maybe not for the purists, but with some interesting guest guitarists, and a determination to re-interpret these classics, this is well worth a listen.
