What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Chicago IX. Greatest Hits. On quadrophonic vinyl from 1975. Though I can't listen to this quadraphonically, my Grace F9E cart is quad capable and does an impressive job of imaging throughout the room, somehow even from behind me. I don't get the same imaging from my standard stereo pressing.

Stratosfear by Tangerine Dream
(1976)
I do like a bit of Tangerine Dream in the night or in the morning and this '95 remaster is sounding just fine.

Kinks. The Singles Collection. On CD from 2004. A great collection of R&B infused Brit pop with a garage rock sound.
On CD, a 1991 compilation - just a random pull from the shelves:

On UK first press vinyl. I love TG!

Multi-Love by Unknown Mortal Orchestra
More of their distinctive individual psych funk sounds always good to listen to.
From 1977, debut album by hugely influential techno-primitivists. Don't listen with the lights off! UK frst press vinyl.

Hoping the forecast of possible thunderstorms doesn't interrupt my enjoyment of this excellent album by Nerina.

Many thanks to Quad 33 for urging the purchase of this CD (still cheap on the river site). Very unusual, varied and most enjoyable, only half way through it as I write but was compelled to thank Quad 33 for this left field recommendation.
* Edit. Just noticed that its available on Tidal for anyone wanting to try free.
Sorry Stevee for late reply glad you are enjoying David Lowe. You may be interested in this other CD of his equally as good if not better imo.

Classic MMEB, this one has Blinded By The Light on board.

Their most underrrated album, on UK first press (FACT 150). The second side is sublime, especially "All Day Long", in which they throw in the kitchen sink - Lou Reed, Ennio Morricone, Serge Prokofiev into the mix. (The album's New Order's Brotherhood BTW).

Tommy - on original vinyl - the first rock Lp I bought. Played my brothers copy and discovered pinball wizard that the new seekers had in the uk singles chart at the time, think the album changed my life, and I still love it now!
Rush, Counterparts, because it always reminds me of The Wheel of Time which I'm considering reading again. Not great SQ but super lyrics and good music full of mood. 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

This landed on the doormat this morning ready for ripping. It surprised me that I didn't know this live album ( recorded at Cardiff University and Bristol Polytechnic in December 1974) was around, just going to play it and find out what its like...
Steely Dan - Aja
Supertramp - Even In The Quietist Moments R/M
Don't believe the sticker. It's not gold but some kind of orange. ![]()

A Who night - on to quadrophenia - original vinyl. The quadrophenia tour was the first time I saw The Who live. After 2 poor problem nights at the Odeon in Newcastle, the last night they made up for it. Rememeber Pete saying they would play until Daltreys throat bled, and I think they just about did it. Concert I will never forget.

If I had to sum up this album in one word I think it would be sumptuous.
Great music, for who like Wolfert Brederode, have a listen - a similar style, it's actually the addition of the saxophone ...

Correction - please listen to the whole album on Spotify, the current song is not so great, to conceptual and measured...
