Crikey! I'm pretty sure there is a Sitar in this one...Irish folk song with a Sitar!  Go noodle on that one.

Anna Domini by Riverside

(2009)

Lovely metallic prog-rock in Riverside's increasingly distinctive style.

This is an excellent album and well worth checking out..

Larry Coryell is at the top of his game, playing fast, jazzy lines, and the other guys set the music in an authentic Indian raga-based framework with some Iranian percussion thrown in.

Dead Can Dance - Toward the Within.

Brilliant and beautiful, particularly Rakim and American Dreaming.

(2014)

A prog-rock band that have been around for over thirty years with limited album output. This is their latest release, good music, very well played by good musicians some of whom are new to the line up. Downloaded from Bandcamp a year or so ago in 24/44.1, if you like older style prog-rock this is worth trying.

On original 1980s vinyl

Why? I fancied some pleasant soft rock guitar work, plus he has good taste in cars...especially the one on the cover.

On crackly old s/hand vinyl

Why? Because it's a gem of an album and I'm an old softy who is affected by the heart shown in the songs.

This I think is being called spiritual jazz, it gives a hint of John Coltrane in an important part of his career ...

Boards of Canada - Music Has The Right To Children

Posted on: 13 July 2016 by Borders Nick

A recent Clapton mini-fest courtesy of Tidal.  Both very pleasant, if undemanding, listening but fitting the bill this evening

America - Greatest Hits - original vinyl. An album I keep coming back to. Some excellent tracks, good music, well produced.

Posted on: 13 July 2016 by CariocaJeff

Bowie - Lets Dance - not a huge lover of his music, but some excellent tracks on this album, starting off with 3 classics. Streaming this as too lazy to go find the vinyl, which I am certain would sound even better
