Premiata Forneria Marconi's debut album Storia Di Un Minuto, superb progressive rock music melodic in style, using acoustic guitars, piano, synthesiser, Mellotron, organ, violin flute and more.

+ 1 Bert.  Gave this a run yesterday on Tidal prompted by a review in The Guardian - not my usual thing but very enjoyable.  Been playing it again this morning.

This past week has been a bit of a dry spell for me musically speaking. Haven't managed to find worthwhile new releases with this possibly being the lone exception.

Favorite tracks: 1, 2, 5, 6, 8

A great album to chill out with - relaxing and uplifting. Van shows his versatility and generosity by duetting with a varied bunch of top class vocalists, always allowing his guests the space they need to express themselves. Lovely, lovely stuff.

This one is of course on Tidal.

America - Hearts streaming from the HDX. When fancy America I normally go for the excellent Greatest Hits, but their albums are good too. Some excellent tracks on this album that are not on the greatest hits. Easy to hear the influence of George Martin in their music.

Nice one Jeff. Why did all those America album titles begin with an 'H'?

Silent Letter is the eighth original studio album by American folk rock duo America, released by Capitol Records in June 1979.

This was the first America studio album following the departure of Dan Peek, the first America release on Capitol Records, and the last to feature George Martin as producer.

It was also their first studio album since their debut to have a title beginning with a letter other than "H". The title itself acknowledges the missing "H" by its wry reference to silent letters in the English language.

The War On Drugs - Lost in The Dream - streaming, a good early/mid evening album that deserves a good listen. Some very good arrangements and production. Nice album. Keep meaning to try on vinyl, but always seems to be another that takes priority!

You should definitely get the double album, Jeff.

Thanks Tony! Just what I hoped I would hear!

Mmmmmmm bought it today, and playing it now. So much more weight than the stream. Great improvement, the album seems to come alive. Thanks Tony!

T- Bone Burnett - Proof Through The Night on original vinyl. Excellent album, beautifully recorded. Always find the first side so good, that the second side, as good as it is, is almost disappointing!

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia

I definately preffer this era of Steven Wilsons output, last few albums don't do it for me.

First playing of Jazz at the Pawnshop on vinyl for 15 years. Nicely recorded and a wonderfully quite pressing. Not really a huge fan of jazz, but I find the atmosphere of this great fun.

My first opportunity to listen to this in its entirety. Quite a mix of different genres going on, fronted in the main by singer Rosie Bones and guitarist Carmen Vandenberg heavily involved with both the writing and backing guitar. Jeff's protest album, it's interesting, maybe it will grow on me  but I'm not pressing the buy button just yet.
