2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Ben Folds - So There
''Chamber rock' plus a piano concerto and instrumentals. Talented guy.

My first opportunity to listen to this in its entirety. Quite a mix of different genres going on, fronted in the main by singer Rosie Bones and guitarist Carmen Vandenberg heavily involved with both the writing and backing guitar. Jeff's protest album, it's interesting, maybe it will grow on me but I'm not pressing the buy button just yet.
My opinion: It sucks!

John Mayer - "Continuum" (2006)
Eric Clapton - Unplugged on vinyl. Good late night listening.

Xenia Rubinos - Black Terry Cat, it's on Tidal, give it a go.
Xenia Rubinos is a difficult-to-classify songwriter, keyboardist, and jazz-styled chanteuse based in Brooklyn, New York. Raised in Hartford, Connecticut in a household with Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage, she sings in both English and Spanish. Rubinos studied voice at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she met drummer Marco Buccelli, who played on her debut album, along with Adam Minkoff on bass. Arriving in 2013 via Ba Da Bing Records, Magic Trix delivered an inventive indie rock bricolage of jazz, hip-hop, funk, Caribbean rhythms, and electronics, and led to multiple tours across the U.S. and Europe. Her equally ambitious follow-up, Black Terry Cat, was released by Anti- in 2016.

In the Heart of the Moon is a 2005 record by Malian musicians Ali Farka Touré on the guitar and providing vocals and Toumani Diabaté on the kora. The album was recorded in the "Toit de Bamako" conference room on the top floor of the Hotel Mandé overlooking the Niger River in Bamako, Mali. The two never played together before.

Robert Plant. The Principle Of Moments. On vinyl from 1983. Because I'm in the mood for a melody.

Red Rider. As Far As Siam. On vinyl from 1981. Kind of a lost classic by a rock band from the Great White North. "Lunatic Fringe" was their big hit but the entire album is very good.

Eagles. The Long Run. On original vinyl from 1979. An old staple from my teens with excellent SQ.

I know Pendragon's music pretty well but thought I would give this "Introduction" a whirl. It does what it says on the tin, this double album has some of the highlights of their thirty year history chosen by their lead Nick Barrett. It's good to have these picks from their back catalogue (strangely excluding their debut The Jewel ) in one place.

Patsy Clines's Greatest Hits. On HDCD from 2003. Such an evocative voice. For whatever reason I always seem to listen to this late on a Saturday evening.

Counting Crows. August And Everything After. On CD from 1993. Their debut and I think their best album. I saw T-Bone Burnett mentioned here earlier. He produced this album, plays some guitar, and provides his notable sonic warmth to the sound.

Not played for a while and one of the best albums Stephen Stills made.

Table Music of Georg Phillip Telemann performed by Musica Antiqua Koln on period instruments.
This most celebrated collection of music Composed in 1733, Telemann's Tafelmusik has been compared as a collection to the renowned Brandenburg concertos of Johann Sebastian Bach in clearly demonstrating the composer’s supreme skill in handling a diversity of musical genres and a variety of instruments.[citation needed] Tafelmusik could be either instrumental, vocal, or both. As might be expected, it was often of a somewhat lighter character than music for other occasions.
