Streaming on Tidal............very good indeed!
Prompted by the incessant rain and gloom outside. Seems appropriate somehow. But what a debt album this was? While long songs were accepted from 'progressive' bands and their concept albums, this was hard rock. Long drum and guitar solos were pretty rare on albums in those days. I was instantly smitten when I first heard it and have remained a Sabbath fan every since.

Spot on Mike. I can still remember the day back in 1970 when I got my copy home and onto the turntable for the first time. A landmark album in rock if ever there was one.
Ah, Black Sabbath. That was the first album I ever bought (other than those dodgy 49p Top of the Pops cover version albums). I've not listened to it in nearly 40 years, but can recommend this...

Yes, Steve. I even remember being captivated by the effect of Vertigo record label spinning on the turntable. I think it was the first time I saw one. Seemed to add to the dark image of the band and the album somehow.

Another one of today's purchases
Songs for Beginners has set a high-water mark for just about every singer-songwriter since its release.
Having just enjoyed an album with thunder in the opening track I thought I go for another one.

Vaccine Electronic - Younger Brother
My first opportunity to listen to this and so far it's very good, cutting out some of the vocal element from Vaccine and adding more electronic as might be surmised from the title...

The Urge To Merge

I had a job remembering how this LP came to be in my collection; must have been one of those 100 bargain LPs i bought for a tenner back in 2009.
It's not one up for my usual play list but this lively 80s big hair sound does better now than i remember, thought i better wheel it out in homage - very sad news about Natalie passing away yesterday at only 65
Debs
Who needs a reason to listen to this epic album?
Canned Heat - Canned Heat. I'm stoking up the smoker to cook up some lamb racks for tonight and a pork shoulder for tomorrow. Seemed like the perfect music to "smoke" to

That band name sounded so exotic....... I consider this as their fourth record.
Bought this about 25 years ago in a small record store whilst travelling in southern California. Still sounds sublime.
Classic Metheny - have enjoyed this one for many years.
Joe Jackson. Look Sharp! On original vinyl from 1979. I've always loved this album on CD for the past 30 years despite it having a cool, digital edge to the sound. This recently acquired LP is very nice! A warmer and more balanced sound, yet with all the speed and accuracy of the CD.
