What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Where it all began, really.
Streaming ripped 3 CD boxset,.............all killer, no filler, as they say.
Give it a listen chaps.

No excuse necessary to listen to this classic. Sounding better than ever tonight. Planet of the budgies anyone?

My favourite Dan album, a fabulous cut - a US pressing from the late 70s, cut hot with tons of bass. Love it!

Having been throughly engrossed by Nursery Cryme I just had to have another dose of vintage Genesis

Jamie Woon - Making Time.
Is it Soul? Is it Funk?................not sure, but it's awfully good.
Here he is, doing it on Jools last year.
Oh, by the way, heads up for Beeb 2 in 10 mins...............documentary about Keef.
I believe it's not so much about the Stones, rather his formative years leading up to the famous meeting on a train with Mick.
Sophisticated sunshine pop for the end of a blazing day. US first press:

On vinyl.
Back to the Dan. An immaculate-sounding MCA vinyl reissue from 1980. Love this album - the apotheosis of their perfectionist approach, but nowhere near as arid as Gaucho.

You just can't go wrong with the Dan.

More work for Tidal and this is really good bluesy heavy rock.
Just a suggestion ,as it seems your taste in music is similar to mine. The Sword. If your unfamiliar with them the earlier album seems more metal but still has that stoner rock vibe. Very cool. Also Kadavar. German rock band that is heavy. Black Sabbath influence for sure.
Thanks SS, I'm familiar with Kadaver and have a few of their albums, I'll have a look on Tidal to see what they have to offer by The Sword and give them a spin.
Lovely album - play this often. Tidal.

Warren Bernhardt - "Hands On" (1987)

1968 UK repackaging of the 1965 album, recorded live at the Crawdaddy Club on December 8th 1963.

Was reminded of how good this was by the above.
I first bought both of them during schooldays.............who's this Clapton chappie then?
Mind you, if you're buying this nowadays, there's so many versions available out there, with wildly varying standards of mastering, and some with additional tracks, you need to do some research.

Been really diggin' me some Roy lately - so good, and you always know the guitar is going to be out front, but never in an obnoxious way.

Every cut on this is good, but the whole album would be worth it just for Can I Change My Mind.

Yes.Fragile. On an early vinyl pressing from 1971. Fantastic album and in my mind truly what progressive rock was all about in the early 1970s (along with ELP's Brain Salad Surgery). Still, whether CD or LP I've never come across a copy of Fragile that does not have a rather thick or muddy sonic signature.
1st run, looks to be a pleasant journey...

Three Dog Night. The Millennium Collection. On CD from 2000. Masters at studio production top-ten hits though I recall from listening to my brother's "Around the World With Three Dog Night" LP back in the day that they were darned good live as well.
