What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

I wouldn't say Spectacular as the album title, but is a very nice to have 3CD set. Amazon at $16!

I know, I know - but it is my one guilty pleasure (OK I might have one or two more).
A lovely, gentle trip down memory lane for a quiet Sunday evening.
On Tidal of course.
Any other guilty pleasures out there?

Henry Roeland "Roy" Byrd (December 19, 1918 – January 30, 1980), better known as Professor Longhair, was a New Orleans blues singer and pianist. He was active in two distinct periods, first in the heyday of early rhythm and blues and later in the resurgence of interest in traditional jazz after the founding of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in 1970.
A good remedy for the heat wave outside.

Rockin' blues from these guys' debut album.

It's not big, and it's not clever...................oh well. ![]()
By the way, "On Tidal, of course" doesn't excuse anything...............but mine's on Tidal too!

Great stuff from Mali...............also on Tidal, which just goes to show.

Prompted by dayjay's playing of this yesterday. Some people seem a bit sniffy about Phil C. I've always been a fan of his work both in Genesis and solo.

Wonderfully dark and heavy with excellent riffs, they should make Black Sabbath very proud. Playing loud through IEMs. Thanks Spurrier...

Some work I like some not, but I wouldn't be sniffy he is a great artist. A very good record is a hot night in Paris in which he plays his music in a big band setup....

You've been playing some serious music and great albums lately, young Graham.
Keep it up! ![]()
Thank you Tony
Hope you are well...
ATB Graham.

Jazz tinged blues from the 1940's.........................smooth.
Earlier this afternoon, good background music...

First introduction to a for me new old artist, knew the name, but never heard him as leader...

A great mix of blues, southern rock, bluegrass, New Orleans.
An exuberant record with great music and backing vocals.................highly recommended.

I had not played it since I bought it - I had misplaced it ![]()

Live Ballroom Ritual
Performed and recorded at Camden's Electric Ballroom in London about three years ago, I would have liked to have been there for this one.

New Order - Music Complete.
A return to form, following a few recent misses.
Last one of the evening from me. ![]()
Last album tonight is the incomparable Frank Zappa with Apostrophe, genius musicianship and loads of humour. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

On vinyl.
