2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

Kevin, I hope this one is rather better than the EMI Capitol Vaults 180gm reissue - very flat sounding compared to an old (but relatively noisy) US issue I was hoping to retire...
Thin Lizzy, Jailbreak, I was fortunate to watch these live on their last tour with Phil and have always loved their style of rock music. In my honest opinion this is their best album and still sounds as good today as it did when it came out. Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Signing off for this evening, relaxing to this. ![]()

Not all the EMI 100s were brilliant Richard, but the best ones, such as Surf's Up, DSOTM, Hunky Dory, Come Fly With Me, were esxcellent. I doubt if the EMI 100 Surf's Up is as good as an orginal, but it is far better than the Capitol Vaults one. Every one of those CV reissue series that I've heard has been pretty poor.

From 1956, fresh and not famous yet.

Car music today, my first MA Recordings disc (1995):

Todd Garfinkle: The Immigrant's Dilema
These reggae recommendations have me playing some Israel Vibration and getting a little Irie on this hot summer night.

Prompted by the Reggae boys.

Jazz + Japanese music + Nordic sounds.

Twenty seven short tracks, only two run to four minutes.
These guys try to build a bridge between musical worlds, sometimes they are successful, sometimes not...

Also during my workout, a bit different less distorted guitars than the other one ....

Grateful Dead. "Skull & Roses". An early vinyl pressing on the Warner Brothers green label from 1971. A gift to me from a forum friend that read I was interesting in increasing my exposure to the Dead. Great music on first listen and the SQ is excellent.

Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers. Mojo. On CD from 2010. An album I wasn't initially taken with on its release. I've since found that my subsequent exposure to the two Mudcrutch albums has heightened my appreciation of Mojo. There's a smooth lazy groove throughout that well compliments the psychedelic-bent blues.

On vinyl from the stereo box set:-

I had always been disappointed with previous CD versions of this album....until I got this - thank you, Mr Wilson - which does justice to one of Tull's classics.

Steve: Purely intrigued by the cover and your implied recommendation I bought this album .. a great addition to my collection .. a band I hadn't heard of before .. certainly they are multi faceted, and I shall be researching more about them .. "Black Coffee" is a keeper. Thank you.
John
Mustaine and band at their best.
