Suzanne Vega, Close Up Vool 1, Love Songs, because it's like having her sat in the living room singing to me.  Superb recording.  Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Basia Bulat -  Good Advice.  First of her album's I have listened to.  Good first impression.

(2016)

Also try her first 3 albums. They're all great, but her debut "Oh My Darling" is an absolute gem.

Blood, Sweat & Tears. The band's eponymous second album from 1968. A wonderful fusion of jazz into popular music. Superb SQ on the Columbia 360 Sound label LP.

Some early solo Edgar, his solo debut in fact. This one is unsurprisingly avant garde and more akin to TD before their Phaedra fame.

Black Turns Grey  by Black Hill and Eensdenkend

Lovely sounding electronic ambient with guitars, shoegaze in style gentle and easy to listen to.

Nirvana. Live At Reading. On CD from 2009. Earlier today I was treated to a splendid afternoon in the hub of down town Seattle where I met for the first time a forum friend and his wife travelling all the way from Alabama to an Alaskan cruise ship that departs from the Emerald City. Wonderful discussions of our similar music interests and Naim systems ensued. This album was one of our topics. Thanks Larry for a truly memorable day!

A very fine live recording of the quintet on top form.  If Jo Morello isn't in danger of giving you the 'flu then your system is not as good as it could be!

The Scottish guitarist showing his unique playing style in an early recording (1998) of Bach's Sonatas & Partitas. Galbraith has lived in Malawi, Greece, London, and, for the last ten years, Brazil. He was a founding member of the Brazilian Guitar Quartet, playing with them until summer of 2003. His principal teacher, since 1983, has been the Greek conductor, pianist and philosopher George Hadjinikos.

Mathias Eick:  The Door

My own very similar view this morning.  My favorite time to go for a drive is early Sunday mornings on mostly open roads in the countryside - today with Cologne Blues the centrepiece.

Cologne Blues is a perfect example of how to play a perfect crescendo and then follow with a perfect decrescendo - from beginning to end a beautiful arch of a slow rise to a climax and then a gentle, perfectly paced descent to nothing.   Breath in slowly until you can't possibly go on and then slowly let it out.  I love the symbolism of Mathias Eick hearing him blow through his instrument without it actually sounding.

Fortunately, the police tend to not worry too much about catching speeders on early Sunday morning (at least today) since they must realize that only music lovers are on the road then.  They understand that musical devices such as big crescendos tend to correspond with very huge increases in speed.  Very satisfying...

America - Holiday - streaming from HDX. Continuing to make sure I listen to all the Amercia albums, rather than just the fabulous Greatest Hits. Some really good stuff on the original albums. Have to try to find the ones I'm missing on vinyl!
