What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Pete Townshend - Scoop3 - heavy vinyl - some greats versions of tracks used on other Who albums particularly Quadrophenia tracks.

I seem to have a taste for the old stuff this evening.
Original vinyl

Great trio jazz ....

Osprey, that looks really interesting - I take it that it's some sort of Iranian psych compilation? It's only £16 on vinyl on the FK site - if it's really good I may take a punt...

Last album on the system for the next three weeks when I will be sunning myself in Turkey so Rush and Caress of Steel to sign off before the system gets shut down and I go mobile. 24 bit Flac via Audirvana/Hugo.

A class ACT:

Lars Danielsson - double bass, cello, bass violin
Leszek Mozdzer - piano, celesta, harpsichord
Mathias Eick - trumpet
John Parricelli - guitar
Eric Harland - drums, percussion

The Who. Who's Next (1971). Among my all-time favorite albums (great irreverent album cover as well). Listening tonight to the 1995 MCA CD which includes seven additional tracks and an excellent 23-pages of notes on the Lifehouse Project including five pages direct from Pete Townshend. The SQ is very good, but well worth the cost of a used CD merely for the additional tracks and extensive liner notes.

Rod's best album and among the tops of the 1970s for my tastes!
Great band, great album...

The B-52's. Time Capsule: Songs For A future Generation. On HDCD from 1998. A wonderful journey into their best tracks. The recording quality is notably tight, fast and punctual throughout, and the band's music remains intriguingly unique today.

I've not seen that Trilogy collection before.
Downloaded much better than via Tidal...

(2016)
Just a random grab and play, atmospheric instrumental ambient music to ease the way into the morning.
Great album, a lot of PRAT....

UK first pressing (FACT 75), from May 1983. Quite simply one of the very best albums of its era, and sounding as good today as it's ever done.

The Vulgar Boatmen - Please panic
For a friend who loved their harmonies.

2011 / 2016 Tidal.. Brit/US Jazz. First listen.
The Floyd's More soundtrack, in a lush 1978 Japanese pressing - gorgeous gatefold, silent vinyl, booklet, obi, lyric sheet... what more could one want?

Can't seem to shake off my addiction for Fotheringay at present. Currently using my old but faithful Naim Nait 1 owing to usual amplifiers away being serviced. It's surprising just how well the little Nait manages to drive the NBLs.
