What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;

During workout, an exact copy of the early Mike Oldfield - even some of the musical tricks are the same. But nevertheless enjoyable. For everybody who like Tubalar Bells, Ommadown...

On CD:-

Bryan Ferry - Taxi

Starting off today with an old school classic.
All Them Withes-Lightning at the Door
Just listened again to Homage to Duke of Dave Grusin, a great album....

Staying old school, this is George's tribute to Chess Records, home of much of his inspiration over the years.
The Doors - Waiting For The Sun
RUSH - Different Stages

While I rushed out and bought this as soon as someone on here said their new album was out, this is actually the first time I've listened to it. Early impressions are favourable. Style-wise a bit of a return to the rawness of their first and second albums, albeit with added 'electronica'. I particularly like the opening song Sometimes.

Some cool afternoon blues from two of today's finest.

Staying with Ben Harper for now, here he is, reunited with the Innocent Criminals on this 2016 offering.

Brilliant album this, I use the track "Am I Wrong" as a tester for system upgrades.

Don't think he has ever bettered it IMHO Dave. An absolute stonewall classic.

(2003)
De-loused in the Comatorium by Mars Volta
"Hardcore, psychedelic rock and free jazz (when they are in the mood) De-loused in the Comatorium blends influences such as (early) Pink Floyd, Black Flag, King Crimson and Led Zeppelin together and come out with a unique type of music not heard before, they managed to make this album a bit of an instant classic."

This In memory of Marianne Ihlen, Leonard Cohen's muse who inspired the song “So Long, Marianne” who died last week at the age of 81.

Last one of the evening..................more gentle blues from the always impeccable Eric Bibb.
