2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
On original vinyl:

Why? I learned of the death of Sandy Pearlman today and, having read the incredibly complex story of the album, I thought I would give it a spin.

Seal's debut album and one I've often used as a test for reviewing new tweaks and bits of kit in the system. I really like quite a few of his albums but I not sure he has ever bettered this one.

Catching up with Wednesday's Afternoon Play on R4. The tale of a feckless dad, who I think is going to come good. Worth it for the classic line, "she's from Didsbury, university an' that".

Kansas. Point Of Know Return. On original vinyl from 1977. Starting Friday afternoon with something progressive.

Heart. Magazine. On vinyl from 1978. More late-1970s American rock.

The Doors. Morrison Hotel. My copy was pressed at the Allentown Record Company from plates made on February 4 (side 1) and February 5 (side 2), about two weeks before the official release date of February 20, 1970. Still sounds very good.

On vinyl.

Really digging this one.

Another piano trio of Eddie Higgins from 2000, this one with a guitar replacing the traditional drums.
Motley Crue-Shout at the Devil

This just arrived from Germany this week for $0.76 + $3.99 shipping within 10 days of ordering - don't know how they make money that way, but I ain't complaining...

Wings. At The Speed Of Sound. On original vinyl from 1976. A couple of days ago I played Wings Over America and have since had the song "Beware My Love" stuck in my head. Maybe listening to the studio version will get it un-stuck.

Billy Idol. Vital Idol. On Chrysalis vinyl, the 1987 US release. Because my wife has fallen asleep in the other room while watching the Olympics opening ceremonies (can't say I blame her). Thought this turned up a notch might get the house rocking late on a Friday night![]()
Browsing Tidal for some new jazz. Fresh.

(1973)
Echoing Paper Plane (Steve's) sentiments and playing their second album marking the passing of Sandy Pearlman yesterday.

I picked this up yesterday from Sound Liaison for a giveaway price, the music however is priceless. This is beautiful Americana jazz, the interplay between the musicians is incredible (must find out more about these guys), the recording, soundstage & balance is outstanding. In one play its at the top of my favourites list.
