What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol. XII)

2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
80s indie rock classic on vinyl.
Polished jazz, almost close to Muzak...
Time for some post Sex Pistols Johnny Lydon and company on vinyl with "This is PiL, Public Image Limited"
On vinyl.
One of the earlier albums, still sounding good...
The Crying Light - Antony and the Johnsons
Songs from Scandinavia:
Dialing back somewhat with some Richard and Linda Thompson
Bernstein/Vienna Phil: Mahler Symphony 1 1987 Recording
Suffering in indigestion from this terrible gluttony. :x
Streaming FIP radio, Paris -- won't be going much of anywhere tonight. Looks like it will be one of the top 3 snowstorms in NYC, ever!
Now a complete change of pace, a re-release on vinyl and it is magnificent
another change of pace, on vinyl, first play and the quality is very good.
David Gilmour. Rattle That Lock. On vinyl from 2015. Doing some room treatments and TT adjusting, I find this to be a very good "test record" as it is a thick pressing, has a wide soundstage, images well, has deep bass, and a just tolerable level of sibilance on two tracks on side 1.
Joe Walsh. But Seriously Folks. On original vinyl from 1978. Another good test record. No matter how many times I hear this, the SQ never fails to impress me.
Ludwig/Karajan: Mahler KindertotenLieder 1975 Recording
Cool and not the most dramatic or sympathetic rendition.
Ludwig’s warm voice is welcome but here orchestra seems doing their own thing rather than accompanying the solist. There is less intimacy.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Hypnotic Eye. On vinyl from 2014. There's no doubt SQ plays a big role in my listening pleasure. I bought this loudness mastered CD the day it was released and was pretty disappointed. Months later grabbed the vinyl on a whim because it was $10. Much better mastering meant much more enjoyable listening for me. Good album.
Ludwig/Klemperer: Mahler Rückert-Lieder 1961 Recording
Ludwig's earlier Mahler Lieder with Klemperer/Philharmonia.
Orchestration is much better and intimate and following closer to the singer than Karajan. Sparse and linear orchestration here enhances the lyrics.
Jansen plays Prokofiev concerto No. 2 and Sonata No. 1. Amazing technique and emotion level that gives me the shivers. What a nice way to end a Saturday night.
Jimmy Buffett. Changes In Latitudes Changes In Attitudes. On vinyl from 1977. A recent find, this has become my favorite of the handful of JB LPs I have.
See all the James Gang,Eagles and Joe Walsh post I had to break this one out.
Eagles. On The Border. On original vinyl from 1974.
Touché Larry.
Pet Shop Boys: Back to Mine Remixes 2005 release
Revisiting the music I used to listen to 10 years ago.
Comprised of 2CDs. One from Lowe with disco mixes, another from Tennant with ambient/spacey music.
Enough variations amongst them they still keep plenty of interest. Including a beautiful Martynov's 'come in!'.
Molly Hatchet. Flirtin' With Disaster. Saturday night brawling music! Where's the keys to my F-150?
Suzanne Vega. Solitude Standing. On DMM vinyl from 1987. Still my favorite of anything I've heard from SV although I need to sample her "Close-Up" discs. Folks here seem to thoroughly enjoy them.
