Because I fancied some prog rock from these boys and this one is rockier than others of theirs. The opening track is a cracker to be played as loud as is permissible naturally ![]()

Jackson Browne - "I'm Alive" (1993) I will gladly join the JB love fest. I too would recommend the newest, Standing In The Breach and other favorites are Time The Conqueror, Lawyers In Love (from the dreaded 1980 era), Solo Acoustic Vol 1 & 2, The Naked Ride Home, Looking East, etc. Heck, try them all. I love the West Coast sound (Eagles, Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs) and though at times quite smooth, Mr. Browne can rock with the best when the mood strikes. His sidemen are the best of the best. Enjoy the journey. Jeff A
Lloyd Cole and Hans-Joachim Roedelius - Selected studies Vol. 1
Something of a departure for the man who was, 'Looking for a rhyme for the New York Times, when he sensed he was not alone'. Possibly less so for the H-J R.

Thanks Jeff I'll have another go at more of his post 80's material. It's so good to be able to test the water via Tidal and the like.
Cheers

Last bit of blues for this evening.......................classic debut from the "B"'s.........Butterfield, Bloomfield and Bishop...........doesn't get much better than that lineup.

2011 - Tidal...
A little heavy blues from this Californian quartet.
From 1975, a real oddity in the 5th D catalogue. Written (aside from some covers), arranged and produced by Jimmy Webb and played by the Wrecking Crew, the group have allowed a little black consciousness and heavy funk to seep into their sound. On ABC Records, US first press vinyl.

A new purchase that arrived today which fills a glaring gap in my Dire Straits collection.

Because I simply wanted to relax.
This is Diana at her silky, seductive, sultry best. I'm sure it is not everyone's cup of tea but it won't fail to ease yer mind.
Moving on from the the blues................"Live at Leeds"..............................not that one...........................this one.
The uncensored reissue, .................. strictly non PC, ......................I like it! ![]()

Why? Just been listening to Jamie Cullum on R2 and as I looked along the vinyl, this caught my eye.

Because I like the way these boys serve up their prog-rock.

2012 - Original triple vinyl...
Vinyl. A real grower, better than its predecessor Shadows In The Night, IMO.

What beautifully melodic voice this lady has. She seems to be able to hold a note at just the right level to hit the spot. Lovely!

That famously "difficult to do" second album................there's a bit of everything here from Jock ska, to Stax soul.............brilliant album.
Earlier this morning...

Tend to always have the feeling that the overall soun of the recordings of Bill Evans could be better...
