2016 has arrived today, so time to start this thread afresh.
Last year's thread (and links to previous years) can be found here;
Solo piano from yesterday evening, not as good as his other solo album, but still enjoyable...

This morning quite interesting to listen to this in the old fashioned way...., good sound...

As well quite enjoyable also from this morning...

Currently running, every now and then I go back to the older masters of the trade. Just this morning had a small dip into Pablo Herras version...

Not even close to being a patch on their debut album, It's A Beautiful Day were sadly only ever a one (album) hit wonder. I'm not surprised that I haven't sat through this one for nearly fifty years!
At some degree I have to disagree e.g Don and Dewey is a great song. David LaFlamme really knew his violin…
But of course White Bird is in the league of its own.
Yes I will give you that Don and Dewey is OK Osprey but for me it all goes downhill from there, I found it had work to complete listening to it "cheesy" was a word that kept entering my head...

Haven't listened to this in quite a while.
A timeless and with no boundaries personal journey, Brahem's best album:

That's a brave statement, Haim. The Outstanding Eyes of Rita is my favourite.

A bit of an odd connection I know but my playing of this was prompted by the song Driving The Last Spike and my watching the current and interesting BBC4 series on how the introduction of steam trains in Victorian Briton changed the country profoundly.
Streaming Wav I know and love this album but I am hearing it tonight in a different light.....I think the 300DR is finely really hitting it`s stride.

Good call, Rob. I haven't given that excellent album a spin for a month or two. Time to dig it out again.

The David Friesen Trio - "1-2-3" (1994)
David Friesen - bass, Alan Jones - drums, Randy Porter - piano

Prompted by RobT. CD1. Like stepping into a warm bath on a cold day!

Art Farmer Quintet - "Mirage" (1982)
I can't find a decent image to link to, but the latest Bat for Lashes Album - The Bride - is really excellent! Natasha seems to have matured into a truely great songstress with real deapth and beauty. Well worth a listen. It's green...

Full Steam Ahead? Total bugger to find on Google. I'm Watching this re-run currently, very much enjoyed it first time too. Not so sure, re Genesis, "We Can't Dance," Will listen again, as you have made a very interesting link. I'm more of an an old skool Genesis fan however.,

Joe Henderson - "Double Rainbow: The Music Of Antonio Carlos Jobim" (1995)
Empire Brass Quintet - Passage. Beautiful brass playing (duh!) mixed with percussion tracing a sort of history of music. Terrific.
