Something about Chuck Berry on Vinyl blasting out of a Naim system...it's just magic.  Chuck Berry's guitar sounds like its in the room...so crisp and clear with such a ring to it.

Nice one Jeff - hadn't heard this before despite owning  "So Near, So Far (Musings for Miles)" &  "Lush Life: The Music of Billy Strayhorn".  Tidalised it and immediately ordered the CD - a bargain £2.67 at the usual place.  Cheers N.

On the black stuff (on the Blue label) - very tuneful and if you like folk (it's more than that, so don't be put off),  one to look up.

Caravan from '69. Nice experimental feel to tracks like 'Ride'. Sounds very good too.

US 1970s vinyl. No reason specifically.

Stunning-sounding (on vinyl) collection of contemporary (late 1950s/early 60s) hits arranged by the great Q for his orchestra. A "big band banger", if you will:

1970s Japanese vinyl, sounding mighty fine:

"Unanimously recognized as one of the leading interpreters of Monteverdi, Rinaldo Alessandrini's recordings of the Madrigals, the 1610Vespers, Orfeo, etc., have become standard references. In celebration of the thirtieth anniversary of his orchestras, Concerto Italiano, Rinaldo returns to his preferred composer creating, in the magnificent Basilica of Mantova, an imaginable Vespers service for San Marco assembled from various parts of the Selva Morale. In doing so he has found "the expressive logic which is at the heart of the liturgies for which this music was composed"(NAIVE)

1979 Japanese Philips reissue LP. Where it all started, and the title track - a remarkable 22-minute tone poem - is still my favourite thing by them:

2xLP compilation album of Lovers Rock from Soul Jazz Records...

"Harmony, Melody and Style tells the story of lovers rock – from its sound system beginnings, through its commercial explosion at the start of the 1980s and its underground continuance into the next decade as the founding UK producers of Lovers Rock absorbed and mutated Jamaican reggae and American soul styles into a distinctly British reggae sensibility.

Featuring Dennis Bovell, Carroll Thompson, Louisa Mark and many more.

Great Country Blues (if there is such a genre), great vocals, great acoustic guitar, great harmonica with a delicious touch of humour, all recorded beautifully live - what's not to like?

RIP Chris - you are missed by this old git.

You can Tidal it.
