Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Last Rebel, one of my fave live bands and one of my fave albums by them.   Really strong album that's clearly a Lynyrd album and that includes the song, The Last Rebel, which is superb.  Recommended.  Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Remastered CD

Marillion, Clutching at Straws. Very underrated group imho and produced a couple of brilliant albums including this which is, imho, arguable the best of the lot.  Flac via Audirvana/Hugo

Ah this brings back the memories - Street Life blasting out on the stereo before a night out on the town with the boys. The album would always put me in the right mood.

There's the makings of a radio play here, Mike!

Siren was always my choice.

C.

And 'For Your Pleasure' was mine.

Marillion were complete and utter crap. How can they be underrated?

Shocking Nigel.  Marillion were excellent as you well know, and I seem to remember you taking me to task for dissing The Smiths on this thread some time back which is surely acceptable to any right thinking person

The Smiths and Marillion are like an Aston Martin and a Trabant. Of course, which is which depends on one's point of view, but I've always thought that Marillion were truly appalling. I know, it's bad form to diss other people's music. Go, Fish, go.

This is good though...

Clutching at Straws was the album which put me firmly on the track to becoming sober. I'd recommend listening to Marillion's earlier works first. (thirst?)

Having been dragged by my wife to watch the fishy one more times and in more places than I care to recall, and Marillion both before and after he left, I am no doubt we'll and truly brain washed.  I was up in Scotland to hear Misplaced Childhood live a while back and was assured that it was his last tour only to now find that he may do an anniversary tour of Clutching.  It goes on and on. Still, I do like a bit of Marillion now and again.

This from the person who criticised me for saying in response to your guaranteeing I would like Donna Summer's I Feel Love that it was not a song or style I liked "Donna Summer? Her music is classic - to dismiss it with 'well, there we have it' with a seeming superior wave of the hand is rather offensive. It's like me saying 'prog is crap'. I cannot abide prog, but I know others like it, and I recognise the musicianship and craft involved, so would never dismiss it in a way you seem happy to do"....

Personally, while I like Clutching at Straws, I prefer Misplaced Childhood, and even more so Script for a Jester's Tear, all get periodic airing, Script most frequently. Saw them many times back in the 80s, but less keen after Fish left.

Unexpected delicious synergy between the Hilliard voices and Garbarek's saxophone:

Jan Garbarek soprano, tenor saxophones
The Hilliard Ensemble
David James countertenor
Rogers Covey-Crump tenor
John Potter tenor
Gordon Jones baritone
Recorded September 1993, Propstei St. Gerold
